Whatever happened to KOF Online?

I was just wondering... two years ago, KOF Online came out. It was being beta-tested in... I think it was Korea, wasn't it?... and then supposed to go world wide. Well, now that i'm a little more into PC gaming, i'm wondering... WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO IT?! Did it get scrapped, or what? Can anyone shed some light on this?

As far as I know, it was officially scrapped - SNKP didn't accepted to renew the Korea's company contract, that was started during the old SNK days.

But some servers are still alive for that beta version, I think.
