Whoa....holy return to roots. I'm not even talking 'Experience', more like 'What Evil Lurks'. Super duper breakbeats...it totally brought to mind that Soundwave breakdancing video...except I have the 20th anniv. O-Prime on my desk, so I pictured him busting out the moves with Bumblebee tagging a wall behind him.

Big-ups to Buro Destruct for sending it my way...I'll gladly pass it along to anyone who wants it via AIM.

I'm really down with this track too. Its got a pretty strong old school rap style to it, with those really meaty breakbeats behind it all.

:spock: I just heard a Beastie Boys track a few days ago that had the same title, did the Annoncer mix up the artist, or are these separate songs?

The more I listen, the more I like.

I don't know how many of you are up on the history of The Prodigy, but Liam's original gig was with a hip-hop group called Cut To Kill (circa 1990). He helped them create a demo...and then was cut from the band! Needless to say, I imagine he's thanking them now. This track is really cool though, in light of hip-hop being his first love...the roots show through for sure.

When you were saying Old School... I wasn't thinking this. Damn, well I'm sure I'll like the new album if it sounds like this, but... This is supposed to be the first single from the new album. Me thinks calling this a Prodigy album is a bit strange. Sure it will sell better, but not what I think of when I think Prodigy.

Loopz, Buro,

I just finished cleaning it up real fast, removed the announcer from the track... want this edit? Just shoot me a PM and I'll shoot you a link.

Am I deaf? What announcer?

Maybe you have another edit already... A quick search on google for the track led me to a bunch of newsgroups... the file they linked to was a radio edition with a german announcer. So I spliced him out with a sample from later in the song and made myself happy. Do you have a studio rip?

Yeah, if someone has a non radio sampled version of this, I would like to hear it as well.

I still think Music For the Jilted Generation was their finest work so far.

He removed it so I will too ;)

Nope that's the same rip. That first thing you hear at the begining of the track, that's the announcer, I took the "imagine" from later in the track and replaced the first section. Someone probably did a gain increase on it, but that is the same quality. As for the vbr file, I did that, I took the 320, fixed it, and ran it through LAME at forced vbr bitrate 192-320 at Quality 0 and VBR 0... so I promise that is the best the music will allow for ;)

So, looks like we all have the same file... if you want I can do a gain on mine to make it sound like yours... and you can have the better edit without Mr. German!

lol, I assumed it was part of the song, it just seemed to fit the beginning. Not a big deal.

This is more like it. I love Prodigy, and I usually only listen to the old stuff (Experience and Jilted). This is very fresh sounding, but old school at the same time. Fat of the Land was cool, but different for them.

Can't wait for this album.

"Girls" is alright. Perhaps I just don’t go for teh funk as much as some...

However, "Memphis Bells" is abso-fucking-lutely incredible...

In case you’re in the dark, I’d venture by here and check them both out...

EDIT: The album cover is genius. Brothers Quay, anyone?

Memphis Bells reminds me of Aphex Twin.

Which is good.

This album is certainly turning out to be a lot more experimental than I had even imagined. Liam was quoted in an interview in saying this album had a lot more in common with their first two than with FotL.

What ever happened to that "Uranus Project" or what not? And that video they put out a while back with the cows and so on.... what a stupid stupid time. I was worried as hell when they were doing that. Did they drop that all together? Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I believe the 'Uranus Project' you're referring to is the porno score Liam worked on quite a while back (which supposedly features a zero-G money shot which I'd like to see). The video with the cows was from 'Baby's Got A Temper', which Liam now disowns (along with the rest of the old FotL-style new album).

Very exciting times. Liam seems to have regained his imagination.

Thanks for dropping the knowledge on me about that CRAP. I was starting to get worried about where the hell he was going.

Now, it seems to be back to the good old shit. Break and Enter has new comp.

I'll have to wait till the new album comes out. I liked "baby got a temper" The moog sample is great in that one. Video is disgusting tho.

Jilted had its moments, but I only got into Voodoo People, Break and Enter, Their Law, and Poison.

FotL was great at first, but the weird-o tracks Climbatize and Nayanan only stand out after time.

Dirtchamer Sessions was a fun mix CD - He has some interesting influences. Never knew he listened to Meat Beat Manifesto. I'm surprised tho.. There's not enough punk in there.. The best mix was Sex Pistols' "New York" run together with Fatboy Slim's "Punk to Funk."

We'll see how this next one turns out.
