Any Neo gatherings in Toronto Canada?

Just wondering if there are any user groups in Toronto or any meetings of any kind... if there are who is responsible or how do i contact the people responsible. thx for any help.

No, not really.

Despite the number of Neo gamers in the city (including me when home) nobody really talks to one another or ever sets up meetings.

There was a Neo Summit or so held by !Arcade! a couple years ago but really nothing has happened since. Everyone always disappears when anyone tries to plan a meeting.

We have quite a lot of Neo fans back home yet nobody congregates at all.

I forget when the summit was, 2000 or 2001 I think. I did not attend and completely forget what went on as I never actually read the report :emb:

There used to be MicroPlays all about, also Chinese places like the Dragon Centre's game store, Video Connection and another place that lined the former East side of the Eaton Centre amongst others but they have all closed, every single one of them.

!Arcade! I think still sells some things however they do not have a walk-in store. www.neogeousa.com is their URL. I did too much selling and was easily the biggest seller in the country although I hadn't a walk-in store either. At the same time I did meet people or have them pick up their games instead of paying postage.

We can try again at some point but honestly don't expect a lot to happen. I used to know a number of KOF hardcore masters but lost touch with them all so bleh. Back to solo gaming.

Also, thanks for the store information, even though they've all pretty much closed up. I do most of my NG business here and online anyway, but I hoped there was a good game shop I could go, check out and actually discuss the industry (old and new) with the people there. :(

They hold monthly tourneys there for various games but it is mostly ddr, initial D and if there are enought players... VOOT. Anyways its to bad that nobody gets together.. i have alot to offer in terms of trade... ranging from the odessey all the way up to the new 4 swords on gamecube. And id even venture out to meet people... I mean even a trade event could be good... start out small and work into other things. Build some interest with people and see where it goes. Nice this is gaining steam... in regards to modded aes items.. Well i dont have much yet and im still learning about them so this should give me a chance to take a peek at some of the better stuff people have done. As of right now i own a aes system... just about every good NGPC game... about 7 aes titles and i just bought a phantom 1 converter so i can start investing in some mvs titles like the metal slugs. Maybe i could even pick up a controller or two at the videogame show or maybe a mvs cab and put together my own unit.... I got alot of games but financially the neo is strapping my wallet clean... which is ok, anyways i will hopefully see a few new peeps. :) later all

Funland remains probably the largest arcade in the city. 2 years ago the crowds for 3rd Strike and SCII were unreal. These days I don't visit as much due to the timing of my classes so I should not say much, however there are always people there.

I walk by the arcade almost daily.... they have the lastest and upcoming games. And I believe they feel they have a monopoly on the arcade market so i dont think they are going anywhere. But then again u never know... :)

NO interest in going to annex due to those ID stalkers seem to PSYCHICALLY know when iam downtown and manage to come stalk me. Honestly how long can one set of people hold interest in another person over well pretty much nothing..Bleh Roger and Vince have destoryed my faith in their arcade running abilities with that move though. Just when they were getting compotent putting in Time Crisis 4 and HOTD 4 they turn around and get rid of KOFXI.. Ah well as long as my records are still on the machine I dont care..

If you're driving east on Bloor St. West ( Towards Yonge ), one intersection after Christie, is Clinton St. 3rd or 4th store after that , on the North side of Bloor.

Don't expect much from Annex though. :(

The best Ken I played against over there is an even match to my Necro, and that's pretty sad... :(

Either that or no one plays Necro over there and they don't know what he is capable of. :)

But the 10 streak was with Ryu until I lost on purpose so I could use Necro. At that point it became so one sided no one wanted to challenge me. :(

There's also Gety, which probably has the best chance of any to get new Japanese games.

Yea, heh. Seems like it. Wizkid and Dark Andy have fueled so much hatred between themselves and others that ng-com members from the area treat each other like they have the plague. The Toronto people over Shmups.com seem a lot more easy-going...there was some kind of meetup thread there as well, but I don't think it ever materialized either.

I think we can probably get a good amount of people eventually. It just takes a high degree of effort in our case. There are many members in our vicinity who really don't post much, but do a lot of lurking (Kobilka68, Logicdustbin, etc).

At this point, anyone in the GTA, Durham, Hamilton, Niagara, etc, regions should probably hop on board. If we can get enough people, we'll determine a meet-up location based on central location and rent a small space (which should be very economical if there are enough of us).

When I'm in the GTA, I stay in both Richmond Hill and Metro Toronto, and I visit my sister on Lake Simcoe as well. If this thing were to happen anywhere within an hour of Toronto(give or take), and it happened when I was in the area, I would be in. I'll be in the area next during the March break.
