Definitely going to see it.
I'm still amazed at people's inability to see the Bush administration for what complete and utter lawless crooks they are. No executive branch has ever displayed more absolute contempt for the Constitution.

I know I will see it, I loved the part where he asked that congressman to enlist his child to go to Iraq.

I don't like Mr. Moore. I won't go see it, nor do I care to click on the trailer link.

I actually think that Moore has pretty decent skill as a documentarian. If he wasn't so blinded by his political ambitions, which frequently call on him to distort facts (and just create them from thin air), he could probably do some decent work. These "facts" are used to create contempt, alarmism, and even to create panic among people.

The strange thing is that he even preaches about how our media creates a society of paranoid, gun-toting cowboys; but then, he proceeds to tell us how flawed and evil our government is, as if that's supposed to calm people down. I remember when even Hollywood booed him off the stage for being too far to the left - that's when you know you've got problems :oh_no:.

Anyway, I don't see myself paying 10 bucks to go see this one unless I'm feeling particularly masochistic that day. I already suffered through one - and I didn't go to see the second Matrix sequel, so I don't see why I should have a different standard for Moore's trash.

Michael Moore tells us the administration are lying crooks..

HEY! Isn't he the one that said he's being censored by the right but was told a year earlier that his company had no intention of releasing it? Isn't he the same guy that lied about it just to create some hype for his propagan..errrr documentary?

Yeah, that guy's telling me who to believe!

Oh, I dunno...I think I see a bit of difference between someone trying to hype the release of his film, and an administration lying about the pretext for a war that has claimed the lives of 800 American troops and more than 6,000 Iraqi civilians.
I'm just quirky like that though.

This pic of Reagan's special envoy Donald Rumsfeld (yes, that one) shaking hands with Saddam Hussein in Nov. of 1983, while it was KNOWN that he was using chemical weapons against Iran, says it all about how consistent and moral the motivations of these GOP fucks are. Depends which way the wind blows, or who's daddy we're trying to avenge.

the message wont be different from Dave Chappelle's Black Bush sketch, except for the fact that people view Chappelle as a comedian, and the sketch isnt in documentary form

Ahhhh... Face it, M.M. is the liberal equivalent of Rush Limbo. He's too idealistic, but he hits it right on some of the time. Both of them are basically the same. Sometimes they have the right idea, other times they are overly biased and out to lunch.

Even tho hollywood seems hyper-liberal, they've got hella money, and we all know people with too much money are almost always republician. All the yuppies that post on this board are proof of that.

I'm with you here, although Moore seems a bit wackier than Rush IMO.

Hollywood is hyper-liberal (there are maybe 3 well known actors that are repulican), and the money thing doesn't really change that. Big businessmen are usually republican, maybe that's what you meant? And lastly, the people on this board are definitely not overwhelmingly republican, from what I've seen. Either that, or none of them choose to post in political threads.

It's all a bunch of crap, plus i cant stand that liberal asshole Moore.Bowling for Columbine was a joke, and he takes peoples words and twists them around to his liking, and he makes money off of it.Like off topic,i seen a book xx reasons to hate Bush. Some liberal asshole decides to take some shit that he made, and brainwash people to believing it.I hate this whole i hate bush shit, especially when you get the person who dosent have a reason to back it up,all you ever get was Clinton's awsome or Bush sucks.I don't want to get into a political rant about this shit,i just think that these are the kind of movies who make worthless piece of shit liberals like Moore a friggin' rich scumbag.Just my 2 cents.

I liked Bowling for Columbine. Alot. It made some interesting points and raised a lot of questions about the media's role in society (and in other societies) and made everyone in the audience want to move to Canada. I never did understand why people went crazy about it, claiming that it was "Anti-Gun". I saw it more as "Anti-Media" and how the news makes people want to go out and buy guns.

Anyhoo, this new trailer got me. There a few lines that are gold (GOLD, I tell you!), especially the last one ("....Now watch this drive."?!!?! What a jackass!).

The good thing about Moore is that he sometimes directs your attention to things you may have missed, or just not heard about. It's wise to use him as a starting point, and then go and do research on your own about the topics that interested you. Don't take everything he says at face value, but let him point you in the right direction.

This could describe many people, including, but not limited to, many people in the Bush administration. Not least of whom is Bush himself.

Yeah, I definitely think he had a point when he was talking about how the media promotes a culture of fear - I gotta give him the nod on that one.

I can sort of agree with that. He does get you thinking - it's just that you have to very careful about just taking his statements as being factual.

EXACTLY.

Has anyone here ever taken persuasive writing? The way I see it, that's exactly what Moore does, using quotes and ideas that support his ideas even if it is used in a biased method. The pt is to convey an idea to someone and if they're smart (IF) they'll use it to jumpstart their own investigations.

I might make this movie the first one I'll watch for the whole year... I've resisted the siren calls of all other movies so far.

You've been missing some good stuff. Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Spartan, Saved!, Kill Bill Vol. 2...um, yeah, you can skip the rest so far, though, unless I'm forgetting something.

Depending on his market, he may have not got Triplets of Belleville until this year.

I'm aware of Mr. Moore's playing with time frame and twisting some facts (American and UK soldiers were killing 10,000 people each day in Iraq before the war  ), but I'm going to go see it as I find the issues brought up important.
