Just curious if any you use any of the ebay sniping programs out there. Normally, I'd prefer to do the sniping personally, but I also like sleep.

You have to be there

Is it just me or you get excited in the last few seconds of the auction (Heart starts pounding :annoyed: )?

I think you need to be up close an personal with the sniping

How long do you all usually wait for. I like the last 30 seconds.

20 seconds. And I know what you mean about the anticipation! It always sucks when they're a bluffer though and you see that they still outbid you, but its always nice to know that they didnt get anywhere near a good deal. ;)

My own personal best time on a last second snipe was 13 seconds. I'm always afraid my internet connection will fail (it has before with a minute to go in an auction i wanted to bid on) so it's hard to try and wait later than that. I also agree there is a rush from sniping and battling with somone for an item, especially if you really want an item badly.

I usually wait 'til the last 30 seconds before starting my bid, but I wait until there's about 5-10 seconds before I finally finalize it. I <3 sniping - what a wonderful uber-geek thrill :buttrock:

here's a good sniping tip: open up two windows, one of the auction and the other of the bid amount. enter your bid amount but don't confirm it. keep refreshing the other window until it gets down to the last few seconds and then hit the confirm bid button on the other window. auction sniped professional style!

I do that all the time...I refresh the one window to see the ammount and I have my bid waiting in the second window. God I love eBay...I hate sniping on the few last seconds, only to end up losing with 2 seconds to spare (It's happend to me)...

Used to do my sniping personally, but now I use a sniping service. I bid on lots of auctions in the US or far east and I like sleeping.

I usually like the satisfaction of doing it myself, but if an auction ends at some hour when I'll be sleeping, I will use a sniping service. I have gotten really pissed when my computer froze or something just as I was about to bid, that's happened a few times! Although that doesn't make me as upset as when I've gotten outbid with 2 seconds left on an auction. In that case I just sit and cuss out the bastard who stole MY item. :oh_no:

I've never used, nor will I ever use, a sniping service. I will admit to sniping a couple of auctions, but for the most part I always bid what I'm willing to pay. If the auction goes higher than that, then so be it, I wasn't meant to have it... THAT time around. Funny thing about just about everything you see up for auction is that eventually, you'll see it again. If you don't see it again it's likely because you stopped looking for it, which, since you lost the auction anyway, you've saved yourself some money.

The craziest auction I've ever taken part in was the Yahoo JPN auction for this. It's a limited edition Sakura Taisen (Wars) live stage musical. I sent Masato I think ~18,000 Yen total, for an auction price of 15,000 Yen and his 3,000 Yen service fee. I had him bid in the last 10 minutes. Funny thing about Yahoo JPN auctions is that if someone bids in the last 10 minutes, no matter when they bid, it automatically bumps the timer back up to 10 minutes. Well, when Masato put my bid in, it was on 7 bids. You can see it finished at 20 bids. Since Masato is just a dude buying stuff and not an automated service like Rinkya, I had about 6-7 emails back and forth during what went from the last 10 minutes of the auction to a little over 40 minutes. I was the high bidder, but damn I paid out the ass for it. My highest bid would have been 19,750 Yen. At 20,000 Yen Masato's service fee goes up to 4500 Yen instead of 3000.

I actually wish eBay would implement the time bump feature where if someone bids within the last 5-10 minutes, the time gets bumped back up to the 5-10 minute mark. This would negate all of the sniping services and would give a fair chance to people who want an item but always get outbid at the last 2 seconds of an auction. But whatever. I haven't tried to get anything off of eBay in quite some time.

I never used a snipeing program still i wouldn't mind trying one. For one thing my hours of sleep are so mess up if i over sleep and i miss out doing a counter bid given if there's enough time left for it some times my timeing sucks time's it's good.Other then that if i realy want item that bad but i don't feel like keeping a eye on it at the last minute i just put a realy high bid that i'm willing to pay for and hope it turns out for the good. :multi_co:

Sniping programs such as auctionsniper are essential for me as I work at night when most auctions end, but before I used to use the two window method with great success
