Disappointing!!! No mention of Streets of Rage 2 (or Streets of Rage 1), yet? For Shame! :shame:

While the above games (I include the other posts) are definitely rocking, I would like to recommend several old-fashion arcade games that have decent playability (but aren't as flashy -or good as Gunstar Heros):

- Gain Ground
- Crackdown
- Any of the old Madden games (they were the best at the time)
- Virtually any EA Sports title (though a few did suck, so check around a little bit)
- Star Control (can be very fun with two people)
- Altered Beast (its so-so, but cheap and a classic)

man... there are so many I can't think of them all.

All the games I mentioned a fun with two players.

If you're into RPGs, get Shining Force or Shining Force II (very good tacital RPG games), if you like action games, get Gunstar Heroes, the best action game on Genesis, also, if you like platformers, you should get Sonic 3 and/or Sonic and Knuckles. Those are my top picks. But, it depends on what kind games you're into.

I can vouch for that Bobak. Streets of Rage is a must own series. I'm having quite a hard time trying to find an actual copy of SoR3.

I got a long list of what you gotta try.
Dynamite Headdy
Rocket Knight Adventures
Mystic Defender (too bad your MD is a PAL. the Japanese version of this game is awesome)
Green Dog
Shining Force 1 and 2
Thunder Force series

I'm not sure if your country has these, but you gotta play these if they are:
>"Renovation" games. I highly recommend playing Arrow Flash, Gaiares, El Viento, the Valis games, Sol Deace, Gain Ground (as mentioned before), Exile (short action/RPG with a little crude language)
>Target: Earth
>Ex-Mutants

Word.

Walt Disney based video games by Sega themselves and Capcom = teh best! :buttrock:

Sure, add the amazing Castle of Illusion to that :buttrock:

Didn't like World of Illusion that much, but it's still dead good. particularly the graphics.

Ah, i love the Megadrive. so many great games.
Didnt see this one mentioned here though:
for 2 player, Star Control is great fun. (Of course, if you have a 3D0, get Star Control II)
Maybe a bit hard to find though..

Alrite people,

Im the brother, lol

I bought a Boxed Mega Drive II with all official leads off ebay with 2 pads and 4 games for £10.55
Then I bought a Mega Drive I with all official leads because it was bundled with 2 more controllers and LETHAL ENFORCED boxed with gun :buttrock: and 3 other games all for.. £6.50

Since then I've bought the following Classics all Boxed with Instuctions:

Sonic 1
Sonic 2 - £15 for all 3
Sonic 3
Sonic and Knuckles - £6.50
Sonic Spinball - 99p :glee:
Streets of Rage I - 99p :glee:
Streets of Rage II - £5.50
Fatal Fury - £2.99
Super Street Fighter II (original 1994 delete one) - £8
Street Fighter II Special Championship Edition - £5
(and 2 official 6 button pads w/o the turbo and slow :) )

Then the games with the consoles were:

Lethal Enforcers Boxed with Gun
Micro Machines 96' Turbo Edition
Pete Sampras Tennis
Brian Lara Cricket 96'
The Terminator
Hang-on, Coloums, World Cup Italia 90'

I think I got some bargains there, re-buying my childhood a bit :)

Id really like to get Contra Hard Corps since I loved Contra III on the SNES, Im also looking through the lists people have mentioned too to see if anything catches my eye,

What do you think of my little collection so far?

Cheers Olly

By the way all my games are UK Pal Im not looking to buy any Jap games and I love RPG's but have so soo many that I havent even started on my cube, xbox, ps1+ps2, GBA, NGPC, dreamcast, N64 the list goes on.. So im more looking for classic 2D pick-up and play games :drool_2:

You kicked off your Mega Drive collecting with great taste. It's small but gotta start somewhere.

Sometime next week hopefully I'll be getting my first Japanese Mega Drive games. And that'll kick up my Genesis collection to 79 (Power Base Converter Included)

Just wanted to mention a couple that I used to love (back when I had a Genesis :crying: )

E-SWAT (a classic - better than the arcade version IMO)
Dick Tracy (yes, it was a pretty sweet movie-based game)

A PAL SOR 3 is not hard to find (they are all over ebay), but expect to pay around £60. But you can pick up a Jap Bare knuckle 3 for around £20-£25 tho, if you want to start a jap collection (most games play in english anyway, except the RPGs, the box art is better and the cases don't have dumb hang-tags).
Also consider picking up (if they haven't already been mentioned):

Asterix: Power of the Gods
NBA Jam
Robocop vs terminator
Contra
Story of Thor
Light Crusader

More great stuff:

Wiz'n'Liz
Ghouls'n'Ghosts
Rolling Thunder 2
Gynoug (a.k.a. Wings of Wor)
Raiden Trad
Alisia Dragoon (addictive like crack)
Speedball 2
Micro Machines 2 - Turbo Tournament (excellent multiplayer game)
Mega Bomberman
Aladdin
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (addictive Puyo Puyo-style puzzler)
General Chaos (single or multiplayer real-time strategic action)
Zero Tolerance (who said the MD couldn't do a FPS)
Dune II
New Zealand Story
Virtua Racing
Sub Terrania
Vector Man
Road Rash II
Landstalker (RPG)

You should also look out for the 32x add-on which normally can be had very cheap. Some good 32x games are:

Mortal Kombat II (IMO, it's the best console port of the game)
Virtua Racing Deluxe (if you like VR you will love this one)
Metal Head (graphics didn't age very well but it's still fun)
Doom 32X (not much to say about this one, decent port of the PC game)
Star Wars Arcade (good port with nice visuals and voice samples)
Virtua Fighter (great game, great port)
Kolibri (oddly themed hummingbird shooter with cool gfx and challenging difficulty)
