Saw it earlier this afternoon. It covers a LOT of ground and if you aren't extremely interested in the Riddick universe (i.e.- You remember all the tiny snippets of backstory in Pitch Black and you've played the game already) I can imagine a lot of people got confused. Even I was wishing that they would've covered a little more backstory on some of the main side characters. Overall the fight scenes were amazing: the opening Necromonger invasion of Helion Prime and the fight between Riddick and the Crematoria prisoners and the Necromonger soliders were the highlights for me.

Overall I'd give it a 4.5 stars out 5, if only because the final fight scene and the conclusion are pretty lame. Its a totally out of character scene for Riddick. However the movie's art style and atmosphere REALLY reminded me of older 70s/80s sci-fi epics like Dune, Alien (the Necromonger designs are very Giger) and to a small extent Star Wars. I really hope this series continues, the ending totally sets up for more sequels/prequels.

**MINOR SPOILER**

Whoever plays Jack (the girl who posed as a boy from the first movie) in this film is fucking attractive beyond anything.

Don't have much to add in the form of discussion yet really, since I have yet to experience any part of the series. But I will mention this :

I haven't seen much talk about it here on the forums.
I'm assuming that not many here know about it.

Yeah man, Peter Cheung, can't wait for that to come out. Hopefully it adds some more to the backstory of the whole thing.

Haven't seen any of the films. But the COR game was really nice. Now I actually have an interest in Riddick now. I'll watch Pitch Black first.

I enjoyed the movie, but it was too epic for it's own good. It seemed like it was a story that should have taken place over a trilogy (with backstories, more character development) crammed into 2 hours.

Somehow "Jack" went from crying 12 year old girl to 17 year old killing machine in 5 years. What happened there?

"Must be the Furion in me..... now I'll walk into the sun" :spock:

Yeah, Jack's leap was pretty big to me. She manages to cut Riddick on the face after being in a slam for 5 years? I'd like to think the guy that tames giant scaled dogs can spot a piece of metal in somebody's teeth.

Anyway, in the other thread DashK started, VanillaThunder said that apaprently an entire hour of footage was cut from the film, which included a lot of very interesting and good back story. I for one didn't even realize that Shirah (Riddick's inner voice, she appears only in the game at this point, but she was supposedly in the film) was nowhere to be found until after I got home and sat down to play the game again.

Can always wait for the directors cut. :annoyed:

I expected to entertained, and I was. The best part for me was Peter Chaing's artwork. Great, great stuff. Might see it again just for that. Oh, the music was wonderful too!
