just a quickie question. does toggling the avenue pad 6 during gameplay from mode A (2-button) to mode B (6-button) cause any harm to the pad or the system?

I've switched back and forth from 6 button to 2 button mode many times with the system powered on. Never had any problems with the controllers or system because of it. I'm pretty sure it's safe to do. I also have
a 3 button controller that I do the same thing with.

He's right, shouldn't do anything bad. The joystick really only communicates with the console with the buttons are pressed, so switching the toggle should not be a problem.

I always screw that toggle up the first time

i wouldn't use the switches alot though. i had a avenue pad once and the turbo switches wore out. then the run button quit working, so i had to use the switch for the run button to press run. i just really think the avenue pad is not well made. hell, really i just think i have really bad luck, and almost always get bunk turbo gear.

well i don't have to worry about wearing out the turbo switches, don't use 'em. but yeah, i'll be careful not to get too toggle happy. thanks for the warning,

i'm picking up general negative vibes towards this avenue pad 6, oh well, it was the only 6-button i could find on ebay a few weeks back. i've had generally good luck with controller hardware in my life, so i guess i'm doing something right. thanks for the replies guys.
