Multiple Formats

I have noticed that some people buy different formats of Neo Geo games. Some people have a AES and a Super Gun and other have a CD and a AES. Is CD/MVS/AES format really that different or does people just buy them for collector puroses?

AES and MVS are virtually the same, while CD is a (sometimes) scale down version of the actual MVS/AES game...

So is a CD system worth buying if I already have a Super Neo? I have been offered some good deals on a Neo Geo CD I just was wondering if their is a big enough difference to buy a Neo Geo CD to.

I would stick with the AES unless you can stand a minute wait for the CD load. The Neo Geo CD is one of the slowest CD systems ever made.

True, for gaming purposes stick with AES, but from a collector's perspective, buy both. Their are a few CDs that arent available for AES, like SS RPG, Special, ect.

Here are some more threads with infos about SNK's CD systems:

<a href="http://www.neo-geo.com/cgi-local/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=001763" target="_blank">ANY SLUG CUTS?</a>

The main features of CD games are low prices, 16bit/44.1KHz CD-quality music and sound, a good choice of easily available titles, CD exclusives, additional play modes on CD, some CD versions of fighters have unltd. credits, etc.

Drawbacks are loading and some cuts in various games.

The front loader CD (first unit produced) is a bit more pricey and rare, thus a collector's item of sorts, but the std. top loader and most of the CD games have been produced in high quantities.

Get a CD console? Hell YES! :)
