He's already set to direct Spy Hunter with Dwayne Johnson and he's "in talks" to direct Metroid in 2006. Now he just signed on to direct Rainbow Six. What'll be next? Halo? Yes please!

Spy Hunter and Metroid I say "FUCK NO!" ... but Rainbow Six was a best selling novel by Clancy originally, thus with his handling of Wind Talkers being not over the top HK Gangsta' style stuff I can see THAT particular film being directed by him indeed. But if Clancy ain't on hand to oversee it'll probably end up as bad as Paycheck. I'd rather see him direct Without Remorse as the "Origins of MR. CLARK" but I guess his son in law Domingo "Ding" Chavez is the limelight stealer now. The other two movies can suck a giant turd.

i hope john woo cuts down on the slow-motion in his future movies. he used to use it very tactfully, but his last few movies have gone to the point where it's almost unbearable to watch (i.e., mission: impossible 2). his best american movie is still hard target.

I love John Woo's films, but he left his soul behind in Hong Kong.
Hard Boiled was the last real JW joint.
Broken Arrow? MI2? Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeak.
He's just one more Hollywood director now, with an above average sense of visual flair. Check out his old 80's-very early 90's flicks if you want a real sense of this man's talent.

Damn straight!

SEE THE FOLLOWING PPL:
---------------------------------

Heroes Shed No Tears
A Better Tomorrow
A Better Tomorrow II
Just Heroes {Co Directed with Wu Ma and Danny Lee}
The Killer
Bullet In The Head
HARD-BOILED

...after that indeed his movies suck major cawk. *The Uncensored version of "Hard Target" {once available off of a work print negative from VSOM w. Time Bars at the bottom} and Wind Talkers are probably the only one's mentioning as far his his career in the USA goes anyhow. ---Face/Off was okay, but even that reeked of GAYNESS.

Well, Woo needs to catch up to Uwe Boll. (House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, Fear Effect, Dungeon Seige, and a few others I don't know off the top of my head) The Spy Hunter movie sounds great, though. I can't wait. :)
And Quentin Tarantino said that he wants to make the bloodiest movie ever made. If anyone wants to do a live action Grand Theft Auto movie, a live action Ninja Gaiden movie or a live action Samurai Showdown movie, there's your guy. :glee:

Beat Takeshi > John Woo

Takeshi Miike > Beat Takeshi

therefore: John Woo Movies = meh

the good ones are only good for mixing violence and remorse. The only good non-hk JW movie was Face/Off.

Saying you want to make bloody movies makes me laugh. Most people don't bother to empathize with the victims in gunfight scenes. It's all masturbation.

But when you use a wire saw to cut off the body parts of an unwilling proven good person.... You have a bloody movie that strikes an odd chord with the audience.

Almost forgot: Uwe Boll is also doing a Bloodrayne movie, and I think he also has the rights to Far Cry.
