Am I the only one who used to go to the arcade just for this game?

I spent very many dollars on that game back in the day. That was back when we had an arcade though... :crying:

Indeed, that was right up there with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time. Man, I love those games. Nothing beat $5 and a group of friends at the arcade. Sucks that arcades aren't like that anymore.

Yeah, i used to play it at my local Laserquest. Pretty mundane beat em up.

I preferd playing Final Lap 2 & Riot City which they also had.

there's still a 6 player X-Men at my local arcade.:) Sadly they are closed now till after labor day :( I love this game enough that I own the 4 and 6 player PCB's. A dedicated cabinet (4 or 6) is one of my "holy grails."

I simply love this game, and it's another reason why I have to get a modded xbox :D

I loved that game. Golden Axe 2: Revenge of Death Adder always kind of reminded me of it because you could play as four characters in both games.

Great little scroll fighting game. Only thing I never understood is what the hell DAZZLER was doing on that game? :oh_no:

Collossus roaring was music to my ears on that game :buttrock:

Eh, it was before the cartoon came out, otherwise it would have had Gambit.

Yes. The only thing better than a 4-player X-Men arcade cabinet was a 6-player X-Men arcade cabinet.

Turns out that this game was based on a cartoon show, just a very old, and very short-lived one from the 80's that had those particular characters in it. Not that it mattered to me, they had me with 6-players and X-Men.

Hell yeah Night Crawler was the $hyte.

Great gameplay, and exceptional music and voices kept me coming back to this one.

The six player version was a hoot. Since I wasn't into comics I don't think the actual game was any more appealing than any other beat'em up, but I did appreciate that super-cab.

I get a kick out of Xavier's voice on that game. It sounds like they just used their janitor!
Regardless, I've never seen the six player cabinet, but I used to play the four-player one all the time and recently found a converted cab for X-Men around the corner from me at a pizza shop. Colossus and Nightcrawler are the favourites for my friend and I for the dynamic of the two.

As a fan of the comic, I decided it was best to never use Dazzler. :p

Anyone remember how the X-Men's KLOV entry used to mention the "X-Men enhanced" hack? Man that would have been sweet if it had existed. I've never seen it and it's not mentioned on KLOV anymore so I have to assume it's an urban legend only.

As cool as that game was in 6-person, it was topped by the sheer insanity of

Galaxian 3

(I remember playing it when the local "Camelot Park" arcade bought one. I had no idea then that it was a sequel in the Galaxian/Galaga series)

fun fact - the Japanese version of X-Men is way easier than the US counterpart.

the Japanese version actually has powerups during the level in which you can restore energy and obtain extra mutant powers. Seriously, check it out.

And they even added a slightly different attack that's done by holding diagonally down + left or right and then pressing Attack to do a slightly longer-range attack every time.... VERY useful for bosses.

sure the US version is still fun, but we got screwed.

X-MEN, WELCOME....... TO DIE

Of course the latter three were three screens...Atari/Namco also came up with a three-screen driving game call TX-1 :)

I remember seeing one of those a real long time ago in a mall. Looked cool but no one was playing it and the cost was like $3 a game so I wasn't going to play it :(

Am I correct in thinking there was an even larger version of this game?!!
