An interesting day at an "Arcade"

Last Saturday me and a large group of people ended up at Dave & Busters. When we first got there I thought to myself, "oh gawd, D&B this place sucks... why do we have to go here." After wandering around the glitzy and boring games I found one of those old skool/emulator cabs. I've seen them before at D&B, but this time I decided to actually play. I loaded up SF2: Hyper Fighting and started playing. Another guy from my group saw me and said, "Oh cool.. old skool SF2" so we started playing. As time went by more people (strangers and friends of mine) started to watch us go at it.

Eventually people started challenging and putting up their cards next to the start buttons, just like the olden days of putting up your quarter. In short, it was a blast duking it out in good ol' SF2: Hyper Fighting w/ a line to take down the current top guy. It was even more pleasing when I went on a small 6 game win streak with Balrog (US version Mike Tyson wannabe). After I lost w/ Balrog, one of my friends watching told me there was a group of black guys cheering me on, takin out rusty guile and ryu users w/ balrog.

Ahhhh... a tiny flashback of the good ol' 90s version of the arcade gaming scene. Haven't had a taste of it in quite a loooong time. Now if I could only get this experience again w/ Samurai Showdown II.....

Hey cool stuff!
I was recently at a Dave & Buster's near Toronto and was disappointed to only play around on Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Pac-Man. I probably spent half my money on those two titles, but had a small (like, three or four people) around me on Mvs.C2.

Not nearly as cool as SF2 but something nonetheless.
What else was available on the cab?

I had a good Virtua Tennis streak going the other day.

Though I love the home version (Dreamcast, of course,) I really enjoy multiplayer Virtua Tennis in the arcades.
Maybe it's just me, but it feels like it has a quicker pace.

Jesus christ D&B is th same as GameWorks...not a single fucking good game. An insultingly boring experience.

That's a sweet story I miss those days. I remember last summer when I had a 13 match winning streak on SF3 (only good game at the place) I just stopped because everybody who played against me never played so I kept getting double perfect and super finishers on em. No challenge at all :oh_no:

I have never been to a Dave & Busters but I was in Gameworks last week and all I wanted to play was Metal Slug 5 or Samurai Showdown IV and the only SNK game they had in the whole damn place was SVC Chaos. I walked out without playing a single game.

Be glad they had any SNK games.

Well is wasn't a fighting game but I was surprised at how many people were watching me play DDR. I was playing at Paramounts Kings Dominion in Virginia. I have maybe 15 people watching. It felt weird but I just played like I usually do but the funny thing was seeing the people's faces after AA Max 300. It was so priceless :mr_t:

Yar, yesterday I was playing DDR at the mall and like people were clapping when I finished my set. It was weird. People don't appaud you if you beat King of Fighters or something. :annoyed:

D&B isn't really a good place for an old school 80s/90s arcade fan. The only thing I really play when I end up there are those arcade basketball machines and billiards. As for the food and drink I'd say it's at the TGI Friday's level. Basically you're not missing out on much.

As for the other games on the machine, I didn't scroll around too much to see what else was on there. However I saw some of your typical early 80s classics and a couple early versions of SF2.

Yeah man I hear you. I remember back in late 1990 at age 12 I used to go to the Diamond J's near my house to play STREET FIGHTER and mastrubate to the chick that worked there. Some hot blonde named Jennifer. She always wondered why the Top Gunner and Bottom of The Ninth cabs were sticky, cause I'd shot my wad in the corner while fappin' it to her, wanting to bury my face in between her thighs... she'd have the spray bottle to wipe the cabs down but I just came back and nutted on the Thunderblade control stick.

...I remember the Air Force dude she was datin' sat down for a game of Thunder Blade and got his hands all gooey! Never knew it was my MAD JUICE for Jenny, but fuck it I was 12 she was 17, wasn't anything going to happen there. ---The music played on: The song "ALL I WANT TO DO IS MAKE LOVE TO YOU" was playing. I proceeded to the restroom washed up and played 15 rounds of SF #1 and got to the Downs Syndrome looking SAGAT. When I lost it was time to stare at her all over again. My mind was on petering my load on her. Then the clock struck 9:00 and it was time to go see Tim Burton's BATMAN so I left. My balls depleted, a pound lighter, thinking of the next time I'd see her again.

...oh yeah, what the fuck were we talking about now? OH RIGHT, about an interesting day at the arcade, thus I'm sure that's not interesting at all. Well there was the day I first played OPERATION WOLF, I beat the game on only 4 tokens, it was pretty bad ass!

:loco: :loco: :loco:

Sorry, I missed your reply.
It's the D&B on Hwy. 400 and 7 as if you were going towards Barrie. (near a movie theatre and an Ikea.)
It wasn't bad. They had better stuff than most places in Windsor, I can tell you that much.

No SNK and no classic Capcom though.
