In the Brittish press this morning (Digitiser/Game Central), http://www.insertcredit.com/ have the full shebang.
While mentioning the Atomiswave, any UKers notice the recent upturn in CVG quality, import sections return and a monthly AW / arcade update, nicer.
Taito has made an aggressive move in the arcade industry with the announcement of a windows XP-based system architecture. The system takes the windows base, and takes away everything used for 'not-games', leaving a solid shell for Direct X product. They're calling it the Type X, appropriately. The CPU is a Celeron 2.5GHz Intel 865G chipset. Games copy to the harddrive of the TypeX via a security-encrypted USB drive, and windows games can be nearly directly 'ported.' And because it's windows architecture, they do have plans to bring it overseas, namely the west. They can't name any specific license they've acquired for the new arcade system, but with the Falcom/Aruze announcement on the third, and the Taito/Falcom announcement not two days before that, I think we've got candidate #1 lined straight up. The aim is to create a new industry standard - serious competition to the Atomiswave. Original press release here. ( http://www.taito.co.jp/news/details/040528.html )
