As i understood it, the Neo Geo family of systems are 24 bit. As in the MVS and the AES, i am not sure about the cd systems. Can any one explain to me why you refer to them as 16 bit systems? Is the a techinicality, like the 32x not being a true 32 bit system or what?

The CD has the same guts as the AES and MVS it just CD instead of a cart. The Neo Geo is 24 bits but some people don't call it a ture 24 bit system. Because it has a 16 Bit and 8 Bit procser and not a ture 24 Bit procsser 16+8=24.

Neo is a bi-processor system as you said and IMO it's not 24-bit.

Is a bi-processor Athlon 1GHz faster than an Athlon 2000XP+ ? I dunno...

32x is actually two 32bit processors running together, like saturn. that would make them 64 <img src="graemlins/tickled.gif" border="0" alt="[Tickled]" /> but its not true.

its just like tg16, is really 8 bit. it just has 2 8 bit procesors so they call it 16bit.

its all marketing really, but noticed how they stoped marketing bits after n64. because consoles became more component based. like dreamcast is a 128bit processor and a 64bitprocessor (or something) and xbox is really only 32bit (its an intel processor)

it just goes to show you that 'bits' dont matter, they just define an age nowadays.

the dreamcast CPU is a hitachi SH-4 RISC 200mhz 32bit, a successor to the winCE based SH3 palmtops. With the SH4 Floating point performance is comparable to a Pentium 3 1ghz, integer performance isnt too hot.

While sega states the SH4 is 128bit, this simply refers to the 128bit-wide FPU registers used for matrix-math computation (3d)

the SH4 is 32bit.

Nope I thought TG-16 had a 16 bit sound processor but an 8 bit core processor.
