Basically, I'm just wondering where do I begin to try to figure out what is wrong?

The sound gets....'bad' at certain times only, and at predictable places.

Can I figure out which eprom is at fault and then replace it?

could be just dirty contacts, try also to move your cart a few millimeters out your cartridge slot when inserted.

You should ask for your money back. Whoever sold you that piece of crap is a goddam thief.

emoticons cannot express my rage.

Have you compared it to a "good Blazing Star" the sound on that game is known to be less than perfect (like slowdown on MS2) its the same on emu.
It has flakey sound in certain parts, distortion and what sounds like wow and flutter at the beginning of the first stage
How bad is it ? Have you heared it sound any better on another cart or emu ?
I was disappointed when I got my Blazing Star MVS cart, but since learned that thats the way they are.

It's bad at points. If I let the ship select music play more than 5 or 6 seconds it just breaks down into a staticy noise and a lot of the music gets lost.

There's something wrong, Briggs knows, he sold me the cart (he told me it was messed up. I have no problem with that. I'm just curious as if I can fix it. If I can, cool, if not, cool).
