Just curious what games you guys experience total gaming goodness with. What is gaming bliss? I can't really describe it so I'll give an example.

EX1. Playing PGR2 with the F575 Maranello on Nurburgring listening to the R5 soundtrack = pure gaming bliss. Not worring about somebody passing me or if my time is fast enough or anything. No distractions

EX2. Playing Vampire Hunter on Saturn beating the crap out of Pyron with the sound blasting ( I LOVE his BGM)

Anybody else experienced this? With what games? Discuss

My Gaming Bliss:
---------------------

Shock Troopers
---Getting through 3 full missions in "Loney Wolf" mode before dying and needing to continue.

MOH: Frontline
---Taking out German soldiers from afar with the Springfeild bolt action sniper rifle while the orchestral soundtrack is at full HERO creshendo.

Snoopy & The Red Baron
---Having the dexterity to last 3 hours straight playing the game, caught up in the nostalgia of the first time I played it.

Operation Thunderbolt
---THE WHOLE GAME... Using the force feedback clacking mock up MAC-10s on a fullly functioning arcade cab killing Terrorist bastards.

RYGAR: Legendary Tales
---Just standing around looking at the many vistas. The world is absolutely beautiful.

League Bowling
---Getting eight STRIKES in a row.

NAM-1975
---Somehow managing to keep "Chris Helper" {the blonde chick} for two stages.

FREEDOM FIGHTERS
---Though it has it's flaws, it's the greatest game ever made. Just getting caught up into the alternate reality where the fuckin' U.S.S.R. actually DID invade the USA and we were forced to fight them on our own soil gets me rock hard. The orchestral music sets a nice mood as well. Running building to building, diving behind burnt out cars... lobbing grenades, taking the SVD Drugnaov Sniper Rifle and picking off Spetsnaz from a 1200 yards out... the sense of comaradarie amongst your fellow not so NIMBY minded compatriots putting all on the line to spike the Communist Scum with our homecourt advantage. Fighting through the sewers. No game in quite some time gives me a feeling of HERO like this one, too bad it's too short of a game and no blood, and not being able to strip the slain of their body armour, NVGs etc.

The intro few notes to the music; Ken stage as Ryu in SF Alpha (or Alpha 2) on Saturn. Pumped.

Not missing a damn thing on the first NiGHTS level using analog skillz.

Timing the running, leading up to jumping off the building at the start of Valis III so the music change occurs during the change into the Valis armor and flight back up. Class.

to me, gaming bliss consists of two things: being in the zone and being totally immersed in a game. everyone knows what being in the zone means and can probably relate. but i also love total immersion because for a brief while, it makes you forget about our existing world by bringing you into its own world. i think that's a great thing in any form of entertainment, be it movies, books, music, video games, etc.

My gaming bliss:

La Bamba in Samba de Amigo, most of FFVII and the first couple of credits in Radiant Silvergun and dodonpachi DAI-OU-JOU.

Any MGS game: When I weave my way perfectly through enemy forces, not having to kill anyone, not even knocking them out with the M9. Knowing you are doing the sneaking mission how you are supposed to do is great.

Metroid Prime: Entering the Magmoor Caverns and hearing the Norfair music is one of the best moments in gaming.

Final Fantasy X: A lot of people hate it, but FFX is one of my favorite games ever. The whole thing was enjoyable, from the main game to the sidequests.

For me, teh gamin' bliss occurs when a game manages to take time itself and make it a non-factor, turning what would normally be a brief gaming session into a multiple hour marathon.

God DAMN, I know I shouldn't be, but I'm always surprised at how many people like PN03. In the top 5 worst games I have ever played.

Gaming bliss, Earthbound. Other than that, simply any game that's fun as hell and having atmosphere that you are effortlessly sucked into. Pretty broad.

I gotta say:

Samurai Showdown 2 on the MVS - nothing like the magic of the Cabinet

Bangaioh for the Dreamcast (JP) - Love it when i get the missles counterexplosion

Pocket Fighter on the Saturn - Freakin love it when you knock someone around the world.

Ghost in the Shell on teh PS - Just like watchn' the Anime/Movie

Mario Kart (all of em) - Love the magic of Kartn'

Jedi Knight Outcast (PC) - Aw teh wonder that is the Force.

I'm sure everyone has different games that help them enter "the zone". These are just a few of mine.

I have to admit PN03 is ok but the only thing that really keeps me from playing it extensively is the LAME MUSIC!!
You'd think with minimalist style you could at least jam to a really nice beat while you're blasting cams but nooooo

Luckily you can turn the music off :glee:
