I just read that Lars couldn't play drums so Metallica used 3 drummers Lombard(Slayer) Jordson(Slipknot) and their drum tech guy. I read that Jordson was killer on the drums I wish I could here it. I'm not a huge Slipknot fan (there new cd is pretty good though) but a dude who wears a mask and plays two sets is fucking metal like em or not :buttrock:

by the way I probably misspelled their names

:annoyed: I thought nu-metal was dead already.

In my world it never left the runway.

Imagine Lombardo with Metallica... OMFG that would fuckin smoke. No other drummer I respect more than him.

Lombardo would also hopefully pull Metallica from the horseshit, sellout road that Lars and Bob Coc...I mean, Rock, seem intent on travelling on.

showdownfan666: You are right, Lars couldn't play drums but I believe what you meants was can't play drums. :p
He has sucked since Justice. Hell, if I can play along to him on the Black album and newer albums, something is seriously wrong since my drumming ability is pretty ass.

I hated Metallica's last album with a passion.

I thought I had been given an Offspring demo cd by accident.........and as for Lars' drumming on it feck!!!! I thought he had swapped his kit for a set of pots and pans and was bashing away on them with a pair of wooden spoons.

Bob Rock claims that the production values were their best ever, even though it sounds like they recorded it inside a public washroom. Production doesn't fix juvenile lyrics and simplified music.

BTW, is there any place I could listen to clips from this download fest? I'd like to hear their sound.

Yikes this has become a antiMetallica thread. Sucks as they're my fav band but I'll admit Lars is only an above average drummer. Anyway the guy from Slipknot is a very good drummer and Load cd's were awesome let the flaming begin

I'm definitely not anti-Metallica. The band rocked hard in the old days and I liked up to S&M and Garage Inc. but I hated St. Anger.
I think a new drummer and producer would totally revive the Mighty Met.

I understand you don't like the snare drums and the production. I say give Lars one more chance maybe after all the shit people have been saying about him will at least put him to BA form. I think after the bad response to St Anger and going to a new label will make them Make a killer cd. I like St.Anger my fav song is The Unnamed Feeling :buttrock: but anyway you gotta remember Bob Rock filled the bass duties and couldn't really do want he usually does. I would like there next cd to be produced by them or Flemming Rasmussen :buttrock: Rick Rubin wouldn't be bad :)

Best drummers I've ever heard are sPaG of Mudvayne, Vinnie Paul of Pantera, and Tomas Haake of Meshuggah. Fucking sick. Also, Metallica sucks and always has.

I'm staying out of the shit storm this thread is certain to turn into... for the most part :D

sPaG from Mudvayne is very good indeed
Joey from Slipknot... that man is FREAKIN NUTS!!! I swear he has rubber ankles to be able to kick doubles as fast as he does.
And the obligatory HOORAY FOR DANNY CAREY!!!

Metallica can blow me six ways to Sunday.

Bravo on the Tomahawk sig there Shirt in a Can.

That is all

It's the way they made the album, though. Sit down, throw out ideas for 30 minutes, the timer goes, move onto another song.
It didn't give them any time to improve the very simplistic lyrics. Besides, ever watch the documentaries of the band since Bob Rock took over? Watch him change almost everything they suggest.
I actually didn't have a problem with the bass - it was Lars' new kit. My best friend is in an internationally touring band (Betrayer) and I've seen these kits in action. They are absolute dirt. The production level sounds worse than the first run of Justice - hell, it sounds worse than Garage Days! :eek_2:

These are just my thoughts, and I'm glad you responded with your opinions as well. Thanks!

Lars IMO is a joke (wasn't back in the day though), but I don't see Metallica existing without him. He is the second most important member in the band. But he's jus a weak drummer nowadays - and a complete fucking idiot (all that bollocks about kid rock being a genious, and limp biskit being their mentors  fuck - off.

I remember someone on this site posting a picture of dustbin-can-drums when talking about the latest Metallica album. That was hilarious.

IGOR CAVALERA ICHI BAN DRUMMER.
I also have always liked what Type O Negative have offered percussion-wise.

I have lost about all respect for Metallica. I remember them quoting in their "Cliff'em All" video how they'd never sell out.

Black album started the ball rolling, and Blow my Load accelerated the rolling shit down the hill.

I'm glad I caught them at a concert in '94 before they cut their hair.

Orion is one of the most amazing instrumentals I ever heard. I used to listen to that track over and over.

Well I knew this would happen all the Metallica bashing. Anyway if you don't like the new stuff that's ok but to say Metallica has always sucked is stupid. They released some of the greatest metal cd's of all time. By the way Vinnie is awesome (my fav drummer) but the other two suck ass. You really want a shittier cd then St.Anget get a Meshuggah cd they suck big time. Next I'm gonna hear how Lamb of God are better  Anyway somebody should just delete this so it doesn't get to an all out war. Me vs the 13 year old kids who shop at Hot Topic so they think they're metal

Dave Witte blows away every drummer mentioned in this thread. With the exception of Dave Lombardo.

Exactly. I could care less how much I know about metal, but I knows what I likes. Contrary to what I said, you can obviously have your own opinion. But to me Metallica is pretentious, contrived, arrogant and played out as fuck. Believe me, I've heard every one of their albums plenty o' times. I guess the bottom line is, Hot Topic makes me want to wait outside my local store and murder each and every blind fan faggot with a pickaxe. And Slayer is absolute shit music too.

Wow you don't like Slayer well let's end this here then. I thought you were one of those Hot Topic losers who don't listen to a band and dog em anyway. I still can't beleive you don't like one metallica or slayer song though weird

No. I don't dog a band unless I have listened to plenty of their material, I am no fanboy. But I honestly can't say I don't like one SONG, but the fact that I can't think of one off hand is quite telling.
