Mark your callendars folks, the new Megadeth album "The System Has Failed" comes out Sept. 14th, '04. All the songs on the new album were written at various points in time between Peace Sells and The World Needs a Hero. These are songs no one outside of the band has heard. The final tracklist hasn't been released yet, but a few of the song titles have: "Kick the chair", "Blackmail the universe", "Die dead enough", "Of mice and men", "Tears in a vial" and "Scorpion". So far I've heard "Kick The Chair" all the way through and if this track speaks for the whole album then it looks like the old 'Deth (RIP era) is back. To finish the package off, Ed Repka has signed on to do the cover and album artwork (Ed did the artwork for Peace Sells and Rust In Peace).

The remastered versions of So Far, So Good, So What, Rust In Peace, Countdown To Extinction, Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings, Risk, The World Needs A Hero and MD45's The Craving hit stores on July 17th.

An mp3 of the remastered verison of "Set The World Afire" is up for download over a www.megadeth.com right now. Its on the front page.

"Now that we've rewritten history, theres one thing we found out. The sweet taste of vindication, turns to ashes in your mouth"

At the moment therer are talks of a small tour (about 20 or so dates) for the new album. No one knows who will be in the touring version of Megadeth for this tour though. I'd figure Chris Poland would be there since he did the lead work on the new disc, but even thats not for sure.

Mustaine said, or rather posted on the official megadeath message board that he wants to keep it simple at this point as far as touring is concerned so he can focus on rebuilding 'Deths rep in the metal scene and prepare for things to come.

Marty Friedman Megadeth era was the greatest.
They never had any great guitarists besides him.

Rust in Peace
Countdown to Extintion
Youthanasia

Those were just some of the greatest Metal albums ever released on earth.

Listening now to "Tornado of Souls" Friedman's solo. :buttrock:

Yeah I love Friedman too he was their best lead guitarist. The lineup they had for the early 90's cd's were awsome but Poland is good too and I'm pretty sure Dave asked him back and he declined. Too much bad blood I guess :crying:

Mustaine actually tried to reassemble the RIP-Youthanasia line up for "The System Has Failed" but he was unable. In fact, the only member of that line up that was willing to rejoin was Nick Menza but he couldn't do it due to prior obligations with another project.

I'm not so suprised that he couldn't bring Marty back into the fold, but Ellefson? What the hells up there? Mustaine and Ellefson were the only constants in every 'Deth line up, they've been through hell together, and Dave couldn't convince him to come back? Whats up there?

Mustaine, Friedman, Ellefson & Menza = MEGADETH!

I was just over on the boards at megadeth.com and I've dredged up some more Mega news for you.

Mustaine is currently looking into bands to take out with 'Deth on the US run of the "The System Has Failed" tour, namely Anthrax, Testament and Exodus. All this is still in the extremely early stages of planning, but would that not be a killer tour?

Oh shit, Set the World Afire sounds 100000000000000000000000000x better!!!! I'm burning this bitch to a cd. The vocals aren't pushed in the mix, it sounds awesome. The reverb was taken off everything too, fuckin a. I can't wait to hear the old albums if they're remastered as well as this song.

They're supposed to be putting up a new remixed track every Friday, so make sure you check back for the new remixed goodness.
