winter (02:43 PM) :
I have no idea. One moment I was playing Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and KOF 99 Evolution, and remarking to myself, hmmm...the picture looks a tad blurry. Then all of a sudden, during MVC2, it resets itself, resets itself, goes to a black

screen and stops spinning. So I think, o.k. its the disk. I pull out my like new copy of DOA2, black, no spin. Then I wait for awhile, go back, and it boots to the Dreamcast title screen, resets itself, resets itself, and no spin.

Perhaps the DC wasn't getting the proper ventilation when it was in your entertainment center, causing it to overheat too quickly and making it unable to boot correctly as a result.

@ madmanjock : Thanks to that thread you posted and your tips, my DC now works again! No more random disk read errors so far! Thank you!

Has anybody experienced an incredibly loud buzzing noise coming from their Dreamcast? Mine buzzes so loud that I have to turn the volume on the TV up very loud to drown out the buzzing.

Ive had my DC controller ports die but it was an easy fix.

The controller ports on the DC, belonging to one of my friends, do not work at all.
How did you fix yours? Did you replace the battery-looking thing?

99% of the time a DC dies, it's the GDROM, find a beatup used one for 10-15 bucks and swap the drives. I had to do this to my launch US system already, funny my launch jpn system from dec 98 still works. :eek_2:

Hey,

On that separate controller board that also has the battery you speak of, you have to find the resistor marked F1. This is most often the only part that has to be replaced to get the controller ports working again. You can replace the F1 resistor with a 1/4 watt, 5% tolerance, 10-ohm resistor and it should be fine.

Mine stuffed up when I was inserting/removing contollers while the DC was still on which is what i think did it.

Actually, your problem is very simple. It has nothing to do with overheating or anything like that, it's you laser. It is not aligned right and has been pushed down over just use. My friend fixed the problem by just opening up his DC, putting some thin sheets of plastic under the support of the laser (to raise it up) and it was just fine. He was having the very same poblem you were so that should fix it next time it messes up on you.
