This was actually proposed in the Mod Forum. Don't know what the outcome of that was, but I think the Feedback Forum was the solution to prevent people from giving bad feedback to buyers/sellers without a real tracking solution like eBay.

Wonder if you could make it to where you'd have to both leave feedback before it was counted, but I guess that wouldn't work well if you had to leave negative feedback for someone.

It looks fine, but it would be unfair for people who dealt in the past and isn't dealing for the time being.

It would not give bad impression of the seller/buyer , but it omits the deals already completed.

What's to stop this from getting abused, though? What verifies that a deal actually took place?

At the risk of being labeled too trusting and naive, I would hope common sense and courtesy would prevent abuse.

The community here is much tighter than ebay and therefore, there's a higher level of accountability for both sellers and buyers. Also here, in the event of unwarranted and/or malicious retaliatory feedback, we can discuss the problems openly and let people decide on their own based on full explanations rather than 80 spaces for feedback comments and responses.

And unlike ebay there are more than commercial reasons for being here. If we want to remain a welcome part of the n-g.com community, we should not abuse each other nor should we abuse the useful features provided for our convenience.
