30th April 2004

hey neko --- the new prodigy album is finished!
we got 11 possibly 12 fist in the air traks .
it sounds sinister, electronic, trashy, sexy and fresh to my ears.
this album is about reminding people what the prodigy was always about---the beats and the music.
the vocals on this record are mostly used as an extension of the sound rather than the main focal point.
like jilted , keef and maxim were'nt involved musically and they are not on this album. ALL 3 of us will be together to do what we do and play this record live and rock it later in the year, we cant fukin wait!
you will probably begin to hear stuff early summer and the new album will hit in august. yeah -- more news to follow soon.

"if i was in world war 2 ,they'd call me spitfire!" Liam Prodigy

The album release date has been confirmed for 16th August 2004

Breathe was a great song -- Firestarter was teh gh3y.

If they can do something with the same sort of theme as breathe - sort of fresh but edgy at the same time, I'd definitely check it out.

Mid August, huh? Otta be interesting. Used to be a HUGE prodigy fan, but my interest kind of died off with FotL. FotL was great in the beginning, but the only tracks that seem to stand the test of time for me are the more experimental Nayana (sp?), Climbatize, and the L7 cover of Fuel My Fire.

Babys Got a Temper is decent, like that moog sample :mr_t:

Too bad they probably won't come to Minneapolis :mad_2:

In an interview Liam Howlett gave in January, he spoke about how he's really disappointed in "Baby's Got a Temper". It was too formulaic and too stereotypical of the direction that FotL had gone in. I guess they had almost a whole album's worth of stuff similar to that track and dumped it all.

I swear to Christ I must be the only fan of BGAT on this planet. Regardless of what anyone else thinks, BGAT is a superb track with an innovative arrangement and a rich diversity of sound. It’s only upon repeated listens that the true genius of this song reveals itself.

But I digress...

The Prodigy is perhaps one of the most significant, influential, and gifted bands of last twenty years. Whereas most modern groups seem to slowly regress in creativity and craft with each subsequent release (Chemical Brothers, Boards of Canada, Norman Cook, etc.), The Prodigy have evolved exponentially from the baby-raver days of Experience, to the menacing delinquency in Jilted, to the twisted alchemy of FOTL. Along the way they have never conformed, appeased, or wavered in the face of controversy. They carried the torch and preserved the lineage of Punk culture when it had all but smoldered into ruin. In an age of innoxious dance videos and self-indulgent performance pieces, The Prodigy’s videos became increasingly dark, innovative, and overtly narrative in structure. Not to mention the fact a bunch of social misfits from Essex were almost single-handedly responsible for kick-starting the electronic music revolution of the late 90s.

I’ve been looking forward to this album for years, and it seems it’s finally coming to fruition. w00+!

I love that track, I was just saying that Howlett didn't enjoy it after he had completed and released it.

Although, it is a bit too much like FotL.

A bit too much like one of the greatest albums ever devised? I’ll interpret that as a complement...

I wonder if theyll play in any of the summer uk festivals as surprise acts ? they always did it for their previous albums. The only festival ill be going to is Cream in liverpool this summer, that could cater for them quite nicely :loco:

Hellllllls yeah I want a copy of the new album as soon as it comes out. It's been too long since the last one.

Going to see them in Las Vegas a few years back at House of Blues is still one of the most kick-ass experiences I've ever witnessed.

FUCK YEAH.

That's what I'm talkin' about. Way welcome, way overdue.
Better enjoy it though...because at this rate, there won't be another Prodge album until 2011...if at all.

I wish Liam would get into doing scores for movies (besides porn). His music just comes across as extremely visual to me...damn I can't wait.

BTW, if anyone who reads this and likes the band has any kind of opportunity to go see them live, you MUST. Best fucking show you'll ever see. They give 200% on stage, no joke.

I can see that. At the time of FOTL, it seems they had become over successfull for their own good, to the point where they had lost focus in trying to introduce this "band" dynamic. Personally I think they are better off with just Howlett producing, leaving the other guys to prance around in the videos & live shows. I'm presuming Leroy has left innit?
