digikey sells them. Search "4.433" and you'll get a list of about 10.

EDIT: Did you want just the crystal or the oscillator too?

A crystal can be swapped straight up I believe from the one on the AES board. I think. If you were to build the circuit from scratch, you'd also need to make get the IC and other parts to make a proper oscillator.

If you are swapping an entire oscillator, it includes the crystal and the IC and other parts.

Crystal has two pins
Oscillator has 4.

Kenny,

I should have a couple spare PAL crystals - I can drop one in the mail for you if you need.

Let me know and I will check tonight. Unless you plan on buying $25 worth of parts from Digikey to avoid the service charge :)

Question: Cannot you guys in America simply walk into an electronics shop, ask for ONE crystal, pay ONE dollar (or so) and walk away? Because you always give the impression that you're not glad if you don't make an online order, pay extra for shipping and wait days for the stuff to arrive... I remember more than one thread where someone asked where to find such trivial things as resistors or LEDs on the internet... :oh_no:

Most electronics stores out here are becoming Gadget shops, selling spy cameras and cellular phones and DVD players (that's more or less what happened to the national chain "Radio Shack" out here). In order to find DB-15 low-density connectors I had to go across town to a specialty store; truth be told, I was surprised that the Radio Shack near me even had the high-density (VGA) ports...

Most "electronics" stores in my area just simply don't carry the necessary parts. The big "commercial" stores pretty much killed all the mom-and-pop shops, and most of these stores only care about selling cell phone plans rather than stocking what customers really need, so yeah, it's easier to place an online order than it is to travel a couple hours to an electronics store that probably won't have what you want anyway.

I'd rather pay a couple $$ for shipping and wait a couple days -vs- spending $40 to fill up the gas tank and take a road trip.

Plus, online distributors have a wider selection than any local retailer would have... Well, unless you live by Digi-Key and can walk in and buy parts :)

It turns out I'm VERY lucky to live in the same town as Jameco. Very nice to be able to walk up to the counter and order straight from the catalog with a real person. No shipping or waiting. Only problem is they close at 5 pm and aren't open on weekends.

And regarding Digi-Key, I always find a few other "supplies" to bump the price over $25. Things like RCA mounts, S-Video panel mounts, even wire or solder or whatever. And their shipping is FAST. Order by 8 pm and use UPS 3-day Select and it takes less than 2 days to get to you. Good place.

And Radio Shack sucks massive ass. They are obscenely over priced and they carry nearly nothing of use anymore. About the only thing I get there is breadboard.

I've already made the rounds here in Michigan. No one carries PAL video crystals here in the Detroit area.

Trust me, I try to avoid online orders as much as possible. When I need parts, I need the fast & usually can't wait 3 to 5 days.
