I go through the members area sometimes, and I see lots of members with 0 or 1 post counts, and they have joined over 2 years ago. So how about eliminating all members with 2 or less post counts who havent posted in a year or mores time?

Has been asked 'x' times before.

I personally don't like to browse on the memers link with so many non-posters.
Specially when a high percentage is a lot of fake accounts.

Yeah, I think it would be nice to do away with those guys.

I say, <10 posts and > 3 months as a member == teh deletion.

I agree. Old accounts with zero post should be flushed. I also think that it should be required for other members to post at least once ever three months, to keep their accounts active.

Is there any kind of option in VBulletin where you can set up parameters for "inactive" accounts to become flagged as such, so mods can just go through and click "deleted flagged accounts" or some shit?

If not, they really should write something up like that. NG.com can't be the only forum to have this problem.

I don't believe in inactive accounts, I think it's much better to simply nail never active accounts. the inactive is a different arguement.

This would be a nice addition, as I hate wading through hundreds of crap accounts looking for someones PM link/ site etc.

All of them should be deleted!

I know i only have like 10 posts, just keeping it real :mr_t:

Sounds good to me. And fix the search function too, still doesn't work for me.

Most rules would be unfair though. What if I go into a coma for 4 months cause of an aneurysm? Seriously, though, some members lose access for a while. At best you might want to delete accounts with no posts after a few months.... But yeah, I think if the first 100 times it was suggested it didn't happen then it won't happen now. If you want to, just sort by post count...

Some members simply loose interest for a while. Nothing wrong with that.
Its unfair for them to have to set up a new account when they regain interest.
Different story for someone who set an account up 3 years ago and never posted.

Well, thats what Im saying. Having even 50 or more posts shows significant interest in the Neo, without being an idiot and being banned. So those with 0-10 posts whow have not posted within a year either joined to ask one question, (which is ok, but sort of "hit and run" like to me, or joined, and forgot. Delete them. :buttrock:

Agree, those guys usually have a techy question. In which case they can always email any of the keen tech forum members, they dont even need to set up an account for that, if that member is unable to help then Im sure they would put them on to someone who maybe able to. Just my 2c
My idea is to welcome as many like minded people into this forum, help out and encourage them to stick around and start posting, as long as its constructive.
I think thats the spirit of the thing

I agree with you all 100%.

Delete all 0 post count accounts not used in the past 3 weeks or so.

Didn't NeoGumby do that during his latest bout of insanity?

I think the number dropped from 10,000 to 7,000-ish.

Of course, that number has gone back up to 8,000 since.

Meh, it's all kinda pointless really.

For you "n00bs" who haven't noticed the previous two (one official, one unofficial) sweeps of 0-1 post members, do know that we do it every few years.

However, now there's a new factor that no one has directly mentioned:
The War Room is now -1. There are several members who have hundreds of posts countered by their hundreds of posts in the War Room (in addition to the 0 posts in Suggestions and Market forums).

One thing I've noticed: everytime we go through and sweep the member ranks, we soon get nearly the same number of 0-1 post accounts. I figure its because so many lurkers do actually come back over and over (they occasionally pipe up to say "don't delete me") that they quickly create a new account to make up for the one we swept away. I actually saw a guy who'd been here for almost a year make his second post the other day.

I don't know when the next sweep will be, but those are factors to keep in mind.
