now you know your job, Konami

- Taito announced they will release PlayStation 2 remake of Falcom's classic action RPG Ys III: Wanderer from Ys, Y's IV: Mask of the Sun and Y's V. Y's III is scheduled to release in Japan sometimes this year, while the other two games will be released next year.

Some questions that come to mind....

Where's the releases for Ys Book I and II? I liked Ys III okay (wasn't bad but wasn't all that good either) and never got a chance to play Ys IV and Ys V.

The other thing I'm curious to know is, what does "now you know your job, Konami" mean? Does Konami have some ownership over Taito like they do with Hudson Soft?

While a stateside release would be grand, I'm not holding my breath. I wonder if maybe someone like Conspiracy or Mastiff would be willing to take the games and compilate them so they could get released here.

Ugh...this talk of Ys makes me wanna bust out my Duo :loco:

I remember reading about Ys 1&2 coming to PS2 a very long time ago, but never heard about them again since then. I forgot about them actually.

Konami is bringing Y VI to the US. isn't that right? if so, there is a chance these will follow too.

Ys 1 and 2 collection for ps2 is a great game. I played the master system version of ys 1 when I was a kid and the ps2 remake is spot on. They improved the graphics and your characters speed, so it makes the game a lot more playable. I think this game would be easy to play through with a game faq.

I'm excited 3 and 4 coming out. Ecspecially 3, I used to play that all the time on my neighbors super nintendo. Hopefully they'll keep the infinate life code intact. The last boss is impossible to kill without it.

Ys I & II Eternal Story has been out for the PS2 for (I think) around a year now. Really really excellent game, and, as RBjakeSpecial said, easily playable with a FAQ, even for those non-Japanese speakers interested in it.

I'm pretty psyched for the 3, 4, and 5 remakes as well, but is Falcom handling them? I couldn't find any info about these on Falcom's home page.

Ys 5: Ushinawareta suna no miyako Kefin is quite a bit better on the SFC than people gave it credit for, but I hope they packaged some of these remakes together, rather than as individual games, unless they're rebuilt from the ground up.

As far as Falcom news goes, I'm more psyched for a PS2 release of Ys 6 and a hopeful PS2 port of Eiyuu Densetsu 6: Sora no Kiseki.

Nice to hear there are gonna be remakes of Ys 3 and Ys IV. I played the serise ages ago when i had a turbografix 16 with the cd player i remember haveing a fun time playing Ys I&II on the T16. As for Ys 3 i feel it could have been better great music though. I hope the remake of Ys 3 turns out well this one chapter in the serise realy needs improvement. On the subject of Ys IV i did get a pc-engine set up last year to play it i just need to find the time to do so. Ahh Ys I&II eternal i like to play this one since i've herd it's a pretty good remake i wouldn't mind tracking down a copy of it for the PC only becuse there is a english patch for it i wish i knew how i could get a hold of it. I know there's a ps2 version of it but if want to play i'll have to get my ps2 modded in the end. :annoyed:

I'm going to stab blind and say Snatchers/Policenauts remake... Konami said it will NEVER happen, and all those fans screaming for it can just fuck off and die. I can't believe how incredibly stupid Konami is. They were once my favorite game company, but the way they handle their fans is something else. This game could have been done as a deluxe two game pack in a collectors type box for $150 each and they would have sold every copy... Konami doesn't give a shit about the fans, period.
