Hello all.

I have recently noticed that there is a gap widening between my upper and my Lower Teeth.

Now only 10 of my Teeth in total actually connect: Last 6 in the back on the Left side (3 upper, 3 lower), and only 4 on the right side (2 Upper, 2 lower)

My front and side teeth do not connect at all, there is like a 3-4 millimeter gap when I completely close my jaw.

I can completely close my Jaw, and I can literally stick my Tongue out through the gap. I can open and shut my Jaw with force while my tongue is out, and my tongue doesn't get bitten. :(

I'm getting worried about this whole thing, now that I realize only 10 of my teeth connect.

Is this normal with some people? Will it get better? :crying:

Any Board members who have or do have this problem?

Please help me! :(

I have TMD in my Jaw. right now the left side pops out when I open my mouth wide, and pops back in when I close it.

I have had TMD for about 3-4 years now, and it's getting better and better for the last 6 months or so, but I just noticed that the gap on the right side of the pic just got bigger...

God, I'm getting worried about this whole thing.

My Wisdom teeth haven't come out yet though, do you think when they would come out, my teeth would align better?

I also never broke my nose, but it looks broken. :(

Sounds like it time for braces. If you leave your teeth like that for too long, the few teeth that do connect will endure excessive wear from teh pressure. You need for all or most of your teeth to meet/touch top to bottom, or it will eventually start wearing on those teeth and cause larger problems down the road. Problems that can't be corrected. I speak from experience. I just visited the dentist last week myself and he explained all of this amonst other things like receeding gum lines and Gingivitis. I'd def go in for a visit and at least get a consultation about it. ;)

But it's not they are falling inwards or outwards, they seem to be "sinking" or receding into my Jaw.

I thought Braces are if the teeth are crooked inwards or outwards...

That is a funny picture.

Saved for future use.

Your teeth look like they grow out of your lips all the way around.

There for Correctional Alignment. That being anything teeth that are crooked, forward, backward or not lined up w/ each other. :glee:

Uh, but how could braces like, you know, raise my lower teeth up to the upper teeth? Because I see that the alignment seems correct, I can line up all the lower teeth, and look at the upper teeth as if they were connecting, and everything would be cool if the Lower front and side teeth were not "Sunk".

I also realized that the last upper tooth way back in my jaw, on both sides is Higher up in my jaw by 2-3 mm. than the teeth next to it.

I was thinking, what if those 2 Back upper teeth were to "Come out", which is to mean that they would grow out or some shit, would that not "Tilt" my Jaw? Think of a see saw effect, if the Back upper teeth come out more, then it PUSHES down the Lower Back teeth, wouldn't that push the front teeth UP with my Jaw?

I'll try to make some ASCII for this :

I = Front tooth
II = Last Back tooth
--- = Jaw

This is what it is now :

II................. I
.\
...\-----------I

IF Last Tooth comes out more, and would be in same line as next tooth :

II..................I
II..................I
.\------------/

Does that make sense to anyone?

Dude... seriously... WTF? Go to the fucking dentist already and ask him. How hard is that... "Hi Mr. Britesmile, do I have a problem?" "Well Andy, let me tell you what I think... blah blah." Why come to N-G.com and ask people if they think there is something wrong with your teeth? OF COURSE THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG! You wouldn't ask if you didn't think that is fucked up. Most of us can close our mouth. It sounds like you have had medical problems that may have caused this, so go to the dentist and I am sure he can fix it. MYYYYY GOOOODDD!

You should probably see the dentist just to be on the safe side, because your dentist will tell if there's any wrong with ya mouth, cuz that's what they're for.

Well, you see, I have a bad rep with Doctors.

I have had very bad knees for the last 4 years or so, and I've been to 6 doctors, none of whom could help me in the least, except try to do all sorts of invasive surgery on it. Well, my Knees are getting better by themselves, no help from 6 Goddamn doctors.

My Mom has had big problems with 2 Dentists, both of whom screwed her teeth somewhat, probably doing more harm than good.

As you can see, I am very leery of going to any Dentist, when all the doctors I've been with just go "well, I don't know what the problem is, but hey, just give me a couple grand and I'll give it a go, no guarantees"

Umm... Well, you should at least consult with a dentist. . No matter what it is, the dentist will probably need to do a new patient exam which usually means XRays and visual inspection of the teeth. It's not like they'll dive right in and go into surgery.

If he says it's some kind of condition then have him write it down. Do some research on it (try and take stuff you
read online with a bit of salt. :P)

Take your time unless you notice a repid change then you might want to speed things up a bit. Have you changed your diet in the last year? Were you really sick at one point? (I don't know about teeth, but things figernails will stop growing when your body's under a lot of strain.

Umm...

Looked it up.

It might be an "open-bite"...

Anyway, I don't know if this will help but I'd at least consult with a dentist.

Several things come to mind:

A) I can't believe I clicked on this link.
B) I can't believe I then proceeded to click on the SECOND link to your teeth.
C) I can't believe this many people have responded.
D) I can't believe I read all their replies.
E) Just a whole lot of fucking disbelief going on.
F) Braces can also fix how your mandible (jaw) lines up with the rest of your skull, it doesn't JUST fix the tooth alignment. If your teeth aren't "connecting" when you close your mouth, its more likely because your jaw is sitting funny, rather than your teeth sinking back into your gums.

Thanks for the links, but it looks like every picture I look at, the gap is not their only problem. Their teeth don't even line up IF they wouldn't have that Gap, mine would.

Thanks, that I did not know. :)
