It seems that this thing will never work. I got a new router recently (one of the current LinkSys ones that says it works with XBOX Live on the XBOX.com page, I'll say the model later if necessary) and I'm trying to connect my XBOX to XBOX Live using a LinkSys WET11 Wireless Ethernet Bridge. I'm having a really tough time on how to configure the WET11 to work because everytime I have it hooked into my laptop and plugged in with the lights on Power and LAN the Wizard on the computer still does not recognize the WET11! How the hell am I supposed to configure it?

:help: :help: :help: :help: :help:

First thing is to make sure the ip range is the same for both the wireless router and the bridge. Also make sure wireless is on and make sure you use mac filtering.

are you plugging the Wireless bridge into your laptop to set it up?

If you are, you need to program a temp ip address in yoru laptop. What version of windows are you running?

Thanks, but I cannot get into the setup utility. I tried unplugging the regular ethernet connection to plug in the WET11 into my computer. I also tried hooking it into my laptop which uses a wireless Internet connection and still nothing from the Wizard. According the the WET11 Wizard it says that it isn't connected when the lights on the WET11 say they are connected.

I'm currently using Windows XP on the laptop. I also tried setting it up on the Pentium 4 desktop (which uses Windows ME) downstairs, but that didn't work either.

All I'm trying to do is allow the DHCP to select the IP address so the WET11 can communicate to the router and apply a WEP password to the WET11.

you dont have to connect wireless.

1.) plug a cable into the bridge directly into your laptop

2.) find out the ip address range the bridge is using. Usually for the linksys one, it's 192.168.1.100 but the instructions will tell you for sure. Once you know the ip address of the bridge

3.) go to the network setup, right click on the network places icon then go to properties.

4.) find the local lan connection then double-click. Go to advanced or proerties of that. Once there, you should see a list of protocals setup for the local lan. Double click on tcp/ip and manually enter in an ip address that closely resembles the bridge. if the bridge is 192.168.1.100 for instance, choose 192.168.1.101 to be in the same range. You shouldn't need a gateway to see it.

5.) from there, you should be able to go to the web setup by typing the ip address of the bridge.

Thanks so much for all the help, I realized that the problem with my WET11 is that I never reset it! Once I did that, I was able to change all the settings to suit my needs. Thanks again! You're way better than those tech support people.
