remebr those fan art sections on the Saturn/PS1/NGCD ports of KOF97, 98, and 99...

well i was wonderin, how did snk choose those entries? (obviously they were from fans in japan) but did they hold a fanart contest or somthing, and the best ones were included in the galleries??

well any info will help :)

btw- SNKP should place another one of those fanart sections in the console ports of KOF or other SNK games, ya know, it cool :)

I'm not completely sure what you're talking about, but if you mean some of the illustrations you get in '97 when finishing with a team of Terry/Joe/Mary, or Kyo/Mai/Billy or Chang/Choi/Yamazaki those aren't fan drawings but actually by artists from Japanese game magazines (Gamest, Neo Geo Freak, and Famitsu, respectively). The edit team illustrations from '98 were done by SNK, and the edit team illustrations from '99, I have no idea who did or how they were chosen.

If you're talking about something completely different, then I'm clueless. Sorry.

On the colsole ports there were extra sections which included excluded arts, proto sketches, unused sprite concepts, and other extras...but I never thought of them as fanarts...just an inside look at what the creators were thinking. Just that extra look at the character's personalities.

thats not it, if you have Playstation/Saturn ports of kof97-99 there are galleries included in the game, in which not only feature offical illustration, but also reject art and as i said, fan art

well, these look like fanart to me, or maybe staff sketches.. dunno (confirm plz)

those shots were taken from the segasaturn port of kof97.. but also the ps1 port have them, as well as the neogeocd version

Ah! Those do look to be fanarts. I don't know if they did an all call for art like Capcom did for Robot Masters for the MegaMan games or if fans just mailed stuff into SNK HQ after arcade releases; just to find that their art appeared on the ports. What a nice suprise that would be. :)
