That's right, Mr. Maury Valtizan graduated from James Bowie High School. It felt good too! We were the first class to have our graduation at an entertainment center (where singers and comedians perform) and it was lovely! I graduated Texas Scholar and I'm going to a junior college my first year then either to UT Arlington or University of North Texas my second. Man I'm so glad I made it this far! I REALLY want to show pictures but our digital camera had no charged batteries and we couldn't get any new ones in time. When we get them charged, I'll post some of me in my cap and gown. Peace!

And UT Austin isn't really a party school - it's a pretty damned prestigious school actually. Their physical science and engineering departments are top notch, and the rest of the depts. aren't too bad either - very competitive.

Anyway, congrats for making it out of high school. I wish I could say that this wasn't just the beginning ....

Thank you, thank you all so much! Yesterday was the last page in my childhood novel. Once I start college, my next book will have bigger and better things (hopefully).

To GoSpits: Right now, I plan on studying broadcast journalism. I want to be a sports journalist work for either ESPN or FOX sports. If that doesn't work, then I will become a sports writer and work for local newspapers, Sports Illustrated, ESPN the magazine or any other magazine. If that doesn't work, then I will go on to writing news stories for video games.

To El_duque: I REALLY wanted to go to UT but my grades wern't quite up to par (I got a B+ average and I got a 17 twice on my ACT). I can eaisly get a scholarship to UT Arlington because I know the basketball coaches very well. I could go there right now, but I want to experience college first hand before I go with the big boys.

To Merc X99: Thanks for that pic of that fine, thick woman. Where do you get those anyway? (Do they have any black women as well? :drool_2:

Sorry for dragging up an old topic, but I was away and don't want Razial to think I just pooned off without noting your reply!

As a journalist myself, I was lucky enough to break into the field early and make many contacts, especially those in areas I am most interested in. You probably know this by know, but contacts are the only way you'll get into ESPN, SI, etc. until you make a name for yourself.

Plug away at the bottom and get your name out there. With time, things should start falling into place. Remember, most established publications and broadcast networks hire the old-school, old guard journalists with a reputation. Within 10 years, many of these guys will be gone in favour of the new breed or ex-jocks.

Best of luck, and with the usual hard work and perseverance, things will pay off. It's worth it, trust me.
