I do not pretend a Sega Vs Nintendo war thread but rather a cool description about these games for the two systems :

Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 3 Nemesis
Resident Evil Code Veronica

How are the GC ones ( if ) better in any way compared to the DC counterpart ?

I never played or seen RE3 Nemesis on action myself and I'm about to get one as well as the other RE's I'm missing.

I'm just a bit confused coz' people some people said the GC versions are pretty much the same than the DC ones. Is it true ?

The only ones I played on the GC were Rebirth and Zero. I'm currently playing RE2 on the DC ( couldn't stand the PSX graphics version sorry... ) and the diference is quite brutal in compariason to the GC ones I've played ( Zero , Rebirth ).

Like those stated above ( 2, 3 , CV ) are not re-made from scratch like rebirth, how do they stand ?

Thanks for any help.

The Gamecube versions are exact ports of the Dreamcast versions, with the exception of Code Veronica, which is the same as the PS2 version.

RE3 is my favourite one - it was a BIG let down for me when I found out that the game was getting a straight port for GC.

So there are no real improvements over the very HIGH pixelated blood fx ?

This is quite lame :( if so

You probably get a little bit better resolution in an overall sense.

I also noticed the speech volume is quite low compared to the muisc & SFX in the DC version of RE2. Is that at least 'fixed' ?

It's nice to have GC RE3 and 2 out there so I can own them all on one system, but there's nothing very special about them.

The only comparison that matters much to me is that Code Veronica has the silliest, least suspenseful story compared to any and all other Resident Evils. Ludicrous would be a good word. Nice backgrounds though.

I've only played re1/re2 on psx, and finished re1 on cube

re1 on cube = fanfuckingtastic

I'm on RE0 now, actually, nice tension with the split group.. omg will he/she be ok when by herself? hmm who knows, nice .. apart from that it looks a little nicer than RE1 if thats possible too, things aren't just static, but move in the background.. nice touch.

I'm on the fecking catapillar at present, got killed 3 or 4 times by him and havent tried again yet, but I will this weekend. Are there two endings on re0 or just one.. hmm prolly one.

as for re2/3/nemesis or whatever they are... well they were sadly just straight ports I
think.

I pick N64 RE2...........neither DC nor GC port
The only reasons I'm with you on this one is
1. Because no loading time
2. Amazing what Capcom was able to do on one cart.

But as far as the rest goes. I've got just about all of them on my cube and like it more for the controlling. I just wish they could have re-done all of the games on the newer engine. But I guess what do you expect.
I just can't wait for the fourth installment.

I'd argue about the control scheme,
the d pad is too far down away from the thumbs natural position.
it works with an analog pad being there like sony's but a more precise d pad?
no.
but I guess there are people that use the analog anyways, which I can't fathom
for RE. but I'm thinking RE 4 maybe will change that. I know the camera angles
are different and maybe that might lend more to using the analog.

The Gamecube versions are direct ports of the PSX originals, quite sad really since you really see how ugly the game is running on a 128 bit system.

The Dreamcast version was the ONLY one to feature enhancements to the graohics Bleem-style in which they smoothed out the PSX jaggies and made the games look cleaner.

The DC versions of RE2 and RE3 are the best.
