Anyone here know anything about PS2's and their many problems? If so maybe you can help me out here. My PS2 all of a sudden won't fill the TV screen completely. There is a 1"-2" black bar (space) on the left edge of the screen from the top of the tv down to the bottom. Anyone have any idea what would cause this? I've tried new cables, but it is still there.:( Any help would be greatly appreciated...

It's a US system and I only play US games on it, and it does this with every game I have.

Check the settings in the PS2. Dont insert a disc and check the aspect size. It may be setup for 16X9 instead of the standard 4:3 ratio.

Adjust the aspect size...should be 4:3. You may also need to adjust your TVs geometry.

Hmm..that's a new one..I do what's been posted to do by other members above.

I came into the thread thinking it would be a "Disc Read Error"and was ready to give you the repair info I save..

If for some reason the suggested methods don't work..Call.
1-800-345-SONY.or 800-345-7669

Get a tech on the line..If he doesn't have an answer then they should fix it for free.
(providing it hasn't been opened)

I guess that's what I'll have to do, call the tech support line. The aspect ratio is set for 4:3, not 16:9. The PS2 has worked flawlessly on this TV now for 2 years, just all of a sudden started this not filling the screen thing a couple days ago, doesn't happen with any other system just the PS2. I've read a couple other threads elsewhere with this problem, but never found any remedy for it. I thought it was just gonna be a bad AV cable, but it still does this with a new S-video cable. Oh well, thanks for the replies.:)

This sounds like you have a "rare" PS2 system in hand...... :tickled:
