A friend has offered to make me a SuperGun/Tate monitor combined thingy, and of course he'd just suggested that he put in the standard controller port for use with teh Neo controllers. I, however, would prefer to be able to use my Namco Stick for the shooters. What would be needed for PSX controller compatibility?

Installing PSX controller ports in a supergun would be very difficult. It would be much easier to directly mod the Namco stick to work with the Neo (it is possible that it loses its PSX compatibility) and then use Neo ports in the supergun.

The PSX->Neo adaptor could work, depending on how the supergun controller port is designed (installing +5V on pin 8 would be mandatory).

I just bought a MVS with the regular neo-ports on the front.
The setup came with some PSX to NEO (i.e. PSX to PC) convertors. I think you can get these from PlayAsia.com
They work pretty well, except for the crappy layout of PSX controller buttons.

The SuperGun will be used for shooters only, and yes, I've seen them at both Play Asia and Lik Sang.

Remember, Neo and Supergun button layouts are different.
If your friend has made the Supergun controller ports to be the same as Neo controller ports then you should be ok. Otherwise the buttons will be in a different configuration. If the supergun is made with supergun controller ports then you might have to devise an adapter to connect to the PSX to NEO adapter.

I don't see why there is a difference between the Neo and Supergun button layout. There are no set rules about building a Supergun controller. JAMMA uses 3 buttons MVS uses 4. Its just another button at the end.

I have a MAS Super Nova, and when I plug my Neo stick or joypad into the controller port the actions are all mixed up. The only way I can use my Neo controllers is if I connect them directly to my MVS 2 Slot. I have some arcade sticks that I converted to work with both my Neo MVS 2 Slot connector and my MAS supernova connector. If I hadn't converted the sticks to at least do the Supernova layout then I wouldn't be able to play my IGS PGM properly.

It is totally possible that his or your supergun was made to work specifically with Neo controllers, and I stated that. I on the other hand have only had Superguns (I've had a total of three different kinds) that will not work with a Neo controller.
