Strange that, I found aof2 ok to beat on level 4 albeit a bit boring

however savage reign is a bastard to beat against the last boss, even harder than kizuna encounter in my opinion

I'll go for AOF2, back in the day I could never get off the 2nd level! :tickled:
But it's still a bitch to complete on level 4 now

Samurai Shodown 3.

I had little difficulties with SamSho II or KoF '94, but SamSho III is just impossible. Even on difficulty level 1!

I simply can't understand why it is so hard for me. I'm a decent blocker, and can play it either simple or with special moves. But every single opponent is like beating Ikaruga with one credit (which I have done, BTW). Eventually (after a shameful amount of time), I can make it to the end boss, but no matter how I try, he hands me my ass. I know, block and counter attack. But even though I can do this infinetly, he occasionally does the counter-thingy (don't know the official term) to my attack, and my character freezes for a second. And he doesn't waste those opportunities.

I don't know whether to :tickled: or :crying: . But most definetly :very_ang: .

Thats what I find with SNK last bosses, they're the cheapest b@stards around!
Part of me thinks that it's not good AI, just cheap programming whereas it should have been a decent opponent.

Also applies to normal CPU opponents, since when can a charge character pull off a special whilst walking?

Still, makes me enjoy the feeling when I beat them, also makes me relieved :)

Pretty much since Street Fighter II...

I got Kizuna pretty recently and had a hard enough time with what I thought was the last boss...but I haven't beat the real last boss yet. AOF2 was the closest I came to throwing my old style stick on my former AES...and I've never thrown a controller for any system.

How about Geese Howard from Fatal Fury? Only kidding, that bloody grab counter beats anything :very_ang:

SNK = Cheapest last bosses ever!

And I can't stand the "Secret last-last" endbosses, it's in virtually every fighting game now, only one I did enjoy was Whatsis name from Kof97, the guy Chris turns into, I didn't think he was that cheap just quite powerful, actaully same with Krizalid from Kof 99, or maybe thats because I played those games to death?

Orochi thats it! :D Is it him or K' as my avatar?

Surprised nobody has mentioned King of the Monsters 2. One of the only games I still haven't beat. With the homecart you start at the beginning of the level with the memory card and even with 4 credits I can't get through the last level.

I always thought Geese and Krouser from FFS, Geese and Yamazaki from FF3, and Kain from MotW were fair. FF3 in particular can be tough, but I wouldn't consider it cheap. Any time I've lost at that or MotW, I always felt I could have won, I just needed to be a little better. Contrasted to any appearance of Rugal...if I lose, I feel I just need to slavishly follow a pattern better. That's why I've always been less of a fan of the KOF games than the FF games.

I beat that last level back in 1995. It took me a very long time to do it. The King of the Monsters who I like to call Mr. Fucks-A-Lot is a real bastard. He will actually eat you! After you bust him up, he exploids into a bunch of little guys. You then have to beat all 10 of these little guys in about 10 seconds. If you can't pull this off in 10 seconds, you lose the game. The ending kind of sucks but I got my money's worth out of playing that game. I used to think that even God couldn't beat that game. ;)

Ok, I think of myself as a pretty decent gamer but I fully admit that I suck at the NGPC Metal Slug games.
Doesn't stop me from constantly playing them, though! :glee:

Don't even get me started on throwing controllers. I've broken 2 SNES, 2 PS2, and 1 DC one. I always regret it as soon as I see them hit the wall. My friend threw my old style Neo controller, so I slapped him in the face like a bitch.
