I hope KOF 2003 for PS2 has an option to change background to original 2D...
KOF 2002 for PS2 import has that option.
When I went to E3 and played KOF2003 for PS2, I thought it was pretty decent port but unfortunately I didn't get a chance to check out the option section.

Altered originals is why I dont like ports.

IIRC... SVC, KOF 2001 and KOF 2002 all had a Neo-Geo option. SVC for sprites and effects, 2001 and 2002 for backgrounds. I can understand wanting to keep 2003´s bgs... But 2001 and 2002? The ports looked much better than Eolith´s shit. Even the most bland 2001 bgs in the port were better than the awful backgrounds in the originals.

InternetRelayChat.....Well thats cool they have the option atleast, wasnt aware. The best port I have seen so far was MS3 aside from that I dont like what they did with 2k/2k1 in the least.

Well the backrounds Don't look THAT bad

but I'll stick with the AES in the meantime

that SNK E3 Shockwave video is pretty neat though.. the intro looks like a (albeit better than most) Fan Combo Video... Cool stuff though...

you can unlock the original 2D BGs in the PS2 port of KOF2001 (2000 doesn't have 3D ones)

I'm happy I have some time to save up for these games, I still need to buy them in MVS format though too :(

Those backgrounds look fantastic, much better than the original ones in my opnion.

Don't get me wrong, I love my MVS KOF03 but I'm going to have to get the PS2 port now also just for the new backgrounds.

A lot of those look like rehashes of older stages. The pyramids one looks like a retouched version of the 2000 stage, for instance.

This one

looks almost exactly like Juzoh's from Last Blade. Neither background really does anything for me. These backgrounds don't really seem like that big a deal as far as "extras" go.

Awesome; the 3D backgrounds in 2002 were pretty good, and these look even better. :D

I really hope that KOF 2004 takes its visuals to the next level.

New backgrounds look pretty spiffy to me. It would be nice to have the originals, too, just to compare and fight on for something different every now and then. I liked having that option for 2001.

They looked pretty nice at E3, but they're not THAT big of a deal.

It's a lot harder to impress with 2D backgrounds than 3D, and I really dig the BGs in 2k3.

"The should"? What´s that? Some kind of code to describe 2D backgrounds?

It's that difficult to you to recognize a typo when you see one? :oh_no:
