I don't know how this had received such scant attention, but I saw it on SNK/Playmore's site and I had to post it here:

PS2版にはアーケードで登場しなかった隠しキャラが参戦！ある条件を満たすと「真吾」「キング」「ツキノヨルオロチノチニクルフイオリ」「ゲーニッツ」「ギース」の5人のキャラクターがプレイヤーとして使用可能となります！

Translation:
Secret characters that did not make appearances in the arcades join the battle on the PS2! Once certain conditions are met, the five characters Shingo, King, Riot of Blood Iori, Goenitz, and Geese will become playable characters!

Here are the conditions that must be met to unlock the characters:
■隠しキャラクター出現条件＆選択方法
【キング】
出現条件：チャレンジモードのシングルアタックで40人抜きをする
選択方法：セレクト画面に追加

【真吾】
出現条件：チャレンジモードのチームアタックで14チーム抜きをする
選択方法：セレクト画面に追加

【ツキノヨルオロチノチニクルフイオリ】
出現条件：チャレンジモードのタイムアタックモードをレベル20までクリア
選択方法：セレクト画面で庵にカーソルを合わせ、R1ボタンを押す

【ゲーニッツ】
出現条件：チャレンジモードのタイムアタックモードをレベル30までクリア
選択方法：セレクト画面でルガールにカーソルを合わせ、R1ボタンを押す

【ギース】
出現条件：チャレンジモードのタイムアタックモードをレベル40までクリア

Poop, is it old news really? I couldn't find a thread that had this announcement in it, I thought I uncovered something brand new.

This was posted up about the time the game was announced, but the codes are something new...I think.

This is waaaaaay old...it was announced over a month before release which extra characters would be included in the PS2 version, and just after release on this very forum as well as others how to unlock said characters. The game's been out for about a month if not more now as well. On a side note, it's great.

I´ve heard from more than one person that controls in the PS2 version are not as responsive as the DC version.

I hope they fix that in the X-Box version.

The game controls are perfectly fine; I still have no clue what that complaint was about and I have owned the AES KOF 2002 and also have the DC port.

This version of KOF is fantastic; what's been done to the PS2 port is a step up from SvC Chaos. You still get the transparaencies and blur effects on special moves (which look awesome), but now you also get 3D versions of the stages, which also look great and add in new animations. The only thing missing here is a remixed BGM.

Oh, and for the haterz, you can also choose the original arcade backgrounds as well. :P

Why i should buy a 300$ AES version of KOF when i can buy 2 KOF game for 40$, with more character and better graphic!!! (KOF2001 on PS2)

any date for the KOF02/03 combo ??? :drool_2:

TOOSHORT!!!

Seriously though, that is a question only you can answer for yourself. For some reason, I've never been bothered by having only ports of Capcom games, but for SNK games it was never enough. I have the recent ports and I like them, but I never play my DC '02 now that I have it on my cab. This is an old discussion though, and the only real right answer is what you feel happy playing.

Considering the controls issue was posted by different people in different boards in Japan, Brazil and US...

Yeah, this is old news, but still cool. I already un-locked all the sercret characters, and it' very nice to have them! King it back!!!
