Dead battery in my MV2F... HELP!?

I believe that the battery on my MV2F is dead, unibios 3.1 won't save settings, nor will the clock keep accurate time when the original bios is installed. What kind of battery does it need? Is the battery socketed, soldered, clipped? I can't really tell and I don't want to damage it by messing with it... Thought I would do the smart thing and ask here first ;)

If it is as simple as pulling it out and putting a new one in, where should I get a new battery and what kind do I get?

Much appreciate any help!

Thanks

Its a 3.6 volt Ni-Cd 50 mAH battery, soldered to the mother board

Hey ttooddddyy,

Where can you get this battery & is it the same for a 4 & 6 slot as well? :spock:

They are the same on all boards (there are actually two types, radial and axial) they have the same specs.
I dont know where you would get them in Alaska. If you have difficulty sourcing PM me, I can send one to you.

My 2 cents on MVS batteries ...
I'm the (happy) owner of 2 MV-2F (2-slot) and batteries are slightly different
- on one it's a blue 3.6V 50 mAh (GS SAFT GB50H-3)
- on the other it's a green 3.6V 60 mAh (GS SAFT 3GB60)

no dramatic difference anyway. both are factory-soldered.

I was wondering if replacing with Ni-MH was possible actually. I remember when buying my first NiMH the seller was insisting in NOT charging them with usual NiCd chargers, arguing they had to be charged in a different way than NiCd. :spock:
Might be marketing BS ... what do you think ?

I would tend to go along with that. Bull elephant shit.
Sure the charge characteristics are different, but in this application it is not critical imho.
