Is everybody else getting these paypal e-mails, asking you for credit card details, etc.?

I got one today that said that a false e-mail had been added to my account, and that I need to go to a certain link to report it if it was not my address. The link then of course asked for my credit card information.

Fuckin' bastards .... how do you report shit like this?

There's really nothing to it.

*delete*

Because you can't stem the junk mail. If it didn't come from some acquaintance of yours, discard indiscriminately.

Yeah, I got this again. I did send scam on my AOL and blocked the message and I got another one today. I first got one saying my account was limited because sombody accessed it, now it's saying sombody else accessed it. Right to the garbage bin with this.

NEVER CLICK ON LINKS from unsolicited e-mails.
If you have any doubts, enter the site(s) in question directly.
No real company will ask you for private information via e-mail and if you find that to be false in the future and you won't,you should e-mail them condemning there inappropriate practice.

My favorite spam of recent is the QUESTION FOR SELLER from supposed ebay members stating that you should send them $16 to cover shipping on imaginary items..
HA!

I know that I shouldn't just click on anything, but these latest paypal e-mails have been looking very official lately - exactly like the ones I receive from paypal after I have updated my password or something like that.

Luckily, I knew it was bullshit when they asked for credit card info right off the bat, but I'm sure a lot of other people aren't as alert. I just think it seems to be getting much worse, and that the bastards sending this shit out need to be prosecuted.

This e-mail I got wasn't as real as the first one I got, they even took the time to put the Pay-Pal logo on the e-mail. What set me off was I highlighted the link and I looked at the URL and it wasn't to Pay-Pal, so I sent it to AOL's "Scam elert".

I've also been getting WAY too many of those "Question for Seller #123". I always send them to the spam folder, but they keep coming. It's like the viagra crap all over again.

Grr...this doesn't sound good. I plan on creating my first paypal account within the next few days and I hope I don't get one of these emails from them. Should I post the emails I get from "paypal" here just to be sure?

I had one in my email this morning...just click "DELETE"!!!

If there's any doubt, just go to your PayPal account and see if there's any major announcements on any of its services. You can always save the email and the address and direct it to PayPal and see if they can trace it down ;)

I've got more than my fair share of bogus scams attempts

everytime I've tried to sell something expensive, I end up getting emails from taken over accounts asking not to reply to the adress the emailed you from (of course I emailed back and found out it was fake)

I once got a guy who wanted the ESN number on a phone I was selling, even went as to far as calling the place of business and trying to get the other employee to give it to him (all in an attempt to switch over his phone to that number than claim insurance on it)

It's a business, people that are smart enough can spot them, others keep the market going

Received a paypal one this morning. they do look very official. the first one I got I clicked on it, but as soon as it asks you for any bank details, straight to the garbage bin.

I think both ebay and paypal have email address whioch you can forward them to for them to investigate.
