In console mode yes, not on omvs. Mvs has 8 dificulty settings. AES has 4 by default in Slug games.

Never beat Slug 1 or 2 in any dificulty past level-4. ( never played those too much though ).

Just X and 3.

I don't know that "level 8" is on the AES version. The hardest setting for you home console boys, then. ;)

Either the hardest on MVS or the hardest on home. Let me clear that up. Trust me, as I owned MS2,x, and so on on AES first.

So, anyone? The first two seem to be the only ones that you could actually do it on. MS5 has gone back to easy after 3 and 4 being SUPER hard.

The only Metal Slug game I can finish in one life is the first Neo Geo Pocket one.

What Spike means about level 8, is that you must set the difficulty to 8 within the Debug BIOS first, then start the game.

I've done this with Last Resort and it makes the enemies bullets shoot real fast.
Magician lord; you get 1 health, 1 power

etc etc.

To answer the original question... best I've done on MS1 on Easy is get in the middle of Level 2 on 1 life. I'm often too impatient to play so careful, I just rather blow shit up as fast and efficiently as possible.

The hardest setting in MVS, level 8, is much harder than the hardest version on NGH, level 6 (hard).

Slug 1 is definitely doable with one credit, probably one life. Now for slug 4 on one life, that I would like to see.

hmmm...are the changes huge? I've done it on one life on level 4, but it's been a while. Level 8 might get me back into it...Thanks for the suggestion :).

After buying both 1 and 2 the other day (thanks Shir0), I played them back to back, and then after playing 2, played 1 again. It's like Metal Slug 1 is "hyper fighting" after the slowdown from 2... especially the end level of 2 with that bridge? Jesus.

Anyhow, I can see both of these being very doable with one life. If someone can beat Viewpoint on very hard with one life, than this should be easy.... ? right?

In 1, I can see it being pretty easy as most of the bosses are pushovers. Even the end guy isn't all that hard compared to later games. Got to level 5 half way through and died today on 8 in MS1. There's that bridge, however, that I just don't think I'll ever pass with one life. All hell breaks through on that damn thing.

But, I'll work on it. Hell, I though 3 was hard (still think so), but I got to the last level before losing a life in that one, too. And THAT is hard to do. Maybe I'll do it one day!

The furthest I can get with 1 life in MS2 2 is the 4th stage... and in level 4...
OK, maybe I suck, but how can you get past the trains/zombies area and the last boss without loosing a single life? I always keep getting fucked up in those areas every time...
You must be a hell of a good player!

Don't rush. Shoot EVERYTHING. Keep those mutants away from you. That's all I can really say. It's pretty hard.

I just played MS1 last night. How in the hell can you kill the last boss (Mission 6) without losing single life? Maybe you can learn from the attack pattern but still.......

I love to use "continue" :)

I know it... there is more to life than trying to beat MS with 1 life...

hell I'm with Liquid Snake on this... Continues don't bother me one bit... its the destruction I crave, even if I have to go in like a suicide Marco bomber to do it!
