I've read a lot of the recent unrelated forum TV threads, and appreciate the info. None of the threads really zeroed in on what am after, however. Tell me what you get if your priorities are as follows:

1. Wall-mountable flatscreen 19-27" (with available wall mount for sale)
2. Travels well (may need to get a stand for travel use)
3. Makes 2D look good (Neo and misc shooters especially)
4. S-vid required... component/progressive scan/etc nice but not required
5. Uh, cheap? I start to feel pain at around $500.

I've found several TVs that can fulfill the requirements of #1 and #5 so there is a definite possibility that what I want is out there. It's been a waiting game so far, though, and I'm worried that I may have to wait another year for something that does all of the above to get more affordable.

Are you doing an upgrade to the gaming spot? New sofas and now new tv. :buttrock:

Not really an upgrade... I just need something more portable so I can stop lugging the 19" around. That, and something that can be flipped to vertical at the drop of a hat. :)

Biggest consideration is the aspect ratio, wide screen 16:9 will screw up your neo-geo gaming experience. 4:3 will screw up your dvd wide screen movie experience.

Not trying to have my cake and eat it too... looking for 4:3 completely and not widescreen. Final bump for this one.

You're going to travel with a 19"-27" CRT TV? Or are you talking about a flat-panel LCD?

If you're going to move a CRT a lot, smaller is better. Stick with 20". A wall mount will run you $50-$80.

By wall mountable flatscreen do you mean an LCD TV, or just a standard tube with some type of wall mountable bracket?

Sorry for the late response, I was a bit busy playing both SS5 and 2K3 this weekend. :)

Based on what I've seen, LCD may be where I gotta go for portability. I've never heard of a wall-mountable CRT, and I can't imagine anything matching the description of CRT that wouldn't rip apart any wall mount that wasn't welded to the structure of the buildling.

I'm checking LCD prices in stores, and even 19" is nasty. I'm definitely looking for an internet-type-skip-the-middle-man sort of thing on this one.
