on my modded AES, I set the game in MVS mode and lower the difficulty level...easier levels slow down the speed of enemy bullets(Level 1 seems like you're NEO in the Matrix :D )...this was a HUGE help to me

of course, if you have a different setup my advice is pretty much useless...

I'm doing a vid for the game, beating each level with one life, my problem is I can't get any sound. I'm recording it with my web cam and the quality is verry good. I hope to have them up soon. I have the final level recorded, but I need to do the rest before I release the vids.

this thread pops up every 6 weeks or so

keep on running from side to side to avoid the grenades ( they're slow )

and watch out for the occasional laser beam ( every 2 or 3 seconds, its always the same )

roll to avoid the laser

the only difficult bit is that SOMETIMES you roll to avoid the laser and end up on the grenades

that aside,piece of cake

The final boss is challenging, forever and always, but there is a simple but laborious way to beat him... diligence.

A thing about NAM'75, is that the enemy will shoot at you at the last position you were at. Same with the boss... you have to keep darting just as Fran said. ALWAYS dart or flip just before he shoots the laser. Predict where you will land if you do flip. Manually mash the buttons fast to inflict more bullet damage. Throw no more than 2 grenades at him per pulse. If you keep at this, you will beat him. And to this day he's still one of the funnest bosses to fight against even today.

But don't feel bad if you do see the world blow up a few more times until you beat him... the good ending is not as cool as the bad one. Isn't it always the way?

You shouldn't throw grenades at him, that slows you down and gives him a better chance of hitting you, only throw them when he first appears, once he starts attacking you, just shoot him with your normal gun or your balcon.

Such a long time since I played this game but I remember when I completed it, I kept rolling and constantly moving around, just firing a few bullets at a time and maybe the occasional grenade!:D It takes time to beat him, but a little damage here and there and finally he will fall.
Good luck.

I remember when I played the game in arcade (a loooong time ago) that this boss could, with one special shoot, kill you and make you unable to start at the point were you were dead (even if you had credits left).

P.S: @ Master giby: I'm looking forwardto see these videos!

I try NOT to roll since it leaves you vulnerable for a moment afterwards, and you can't attack during the roll. I run to the side, but JUST ENOUGH to side step the cannon ball (or whatever it is). My finger is always on the A button, then just before I get hit, I tap C and left or right. I only roll when I am at the side of the screen and need to start running the other directions and side stepping again. The laser has a rhythm to it and is easy to predict. Also I always kill off all my men on the current credit at the two girls with machine guns so I have a fresh set of back up players for Muckly.

Uh... I've beaten NAM'75 probably about 50 times with ease using everything from grenades, to frag grenades, balcon, and the pea shooter. I know what I'm talking about there friend ;)

Err, I've beaten the game over 1000 times, and have been able to do it like its nothing since '91, without loasing a life. Throwing grenades is risky and takes longer than using the Balcan. The Balcan is the best way to beat him, you may have beaten the game around 50 times, but it seems you have a lot more to learn my friend ;)

Well..... I've beaten it a kajillion times!!! :buttrock:

I've done it both ways, actually. If I think I can launch a grenade safely, then I'll go for it. Either way works, but for me, the most important thing was to side step, and roll only when forced to.

Thats alot of times beating..?! ..but I´ve beaten it about 500 times more than a kajillion and Im the only one who did it with my eyes closed, handcuffed behind my back and locked in a watertank, doing so I got to many points for the game to handle and I saw the secret ending where stars and stripes comes flying out of the screen and you dance around Mucklys grave singing hallelulja!!!!
But when you tell the kids these days they dont believe you...
