Anyone that was wondering whether we'd ever actually see an uncut version of 'G-Force', well, looks like we will be.

On the front page of Anime On DVD there is news that ADV picked up Gatchman.

ADV has licensed
# Peacemaker Kurogane anime
# Full metal Panic Fumoofu
# original uncut Gatchaman (entire first series is something like 105 episodes)

It's also nice to know that someone got Fumoofu and Kurogane. Of course, it was pretty much a given they'd get both shows; Fumoofu because they already did the FMP series (Manga and Anime) and they are set to begin the Kurogane Manga soon, which told most people they were either after the Anime or had the Anime as well.

Now if only someone would pick up the Original Uncut Mazinger Z TV (Tranzor Z in the US) and Cutey Honey TV (not just Shin Cutey Honey). When I see things like Gatchaman getting picked up, when there is already a 'dub' version available, I have hope for Mazinger... especially since ADV released Mazinkaiser last year...

Fumoffu is much better than the original series, and Kurogane is the best damn Shinsengumi anime EVER.

Good stuff all around.

And I hear Geneon HAS licensed Tsukihime. Oh, I fear what's going to result from that... ;_;

It may sound stupid but since I'm an anime noob, how could the version be censored? To the best of my knowledge, censorship in Japan is almost non-existent...

The US version was cut when they built G-Force, which is why they make a point of saying 'uncut' for release of the original. They do it just so you know that what you're getting is Gatchaman as it was meant to be (though likely with morphing title cards and English op/ed credits, since it IS ADV).

Now Loading- Maybe they'll get into bringing out... other... related material in the US as well? :loco:

Tobe! Tobe Tobe Gatchaman!
Yuke! Yuke Yuke Gatchaman!

:D

Who knows? Maybe now there is chance for more Tatsunoko TV series from the 70´s, like Tekkaman, Casshern or the Time Bokan saga.

i have to agree with the Mazinger comment.

i tried looking in ebay for mazinger dvds and the ones available are mostly either in Spanish or Arabic for the complete TV series. the R2 go nagai collections are mostly out of print or too damn expensive.

considering the boom in popularity of Anime, it sucks that there isnt more attempts to actually showcase a lot of the older influential material, like Go Nagai's super robots (mazinger is THE O.G. super robot!) or even Astroboy.

There are Mazinger Z English subbed bootlegs, as I have seen them on eBay plenty, and have been tempted on more than one occasion to go for them. However, it's against my beliefs to purchase such a set. I have Dash no Chirs/Hoteiya LV looking into getting the 2 Mazinger Z TV R2 DVD sets. Sure, they are expensive and not subbed, but I know enough Japanese to get me by and I'd rather own something legit personally.

As far as where to get the set, try Half.com. I don't condone purchasing bootlegs, but if that's what you want and that's what you're looking for, there are plenty of places to look outside of eBay.

I thought the Rhino releases of Gatchaman were fine, except for the fact that there were only 2 episodes per disc, in order to have room for both uncut Gatchaman and Battle of the Planets versions. But then again, the R2 discs only had 2 eps per dvd also, if I remember right. Let me also join the list of people who would enjoy Mazinger Z dvds. Wouldn't mind UFO Grendizer either. I've never seen it, but my girlfriend used to watch it as a kid in Italy, where I think it was called Goldrick.

How about we just say ANY Nagai Go super robot stuff and leave it at that? :D
