So, who's beaten Halo on Legendary mode?

I'm curious if anyone here has accomplished this. I am working my way through it on Heroic, and it seems pretty tough to me. I can't imagine finishing this game solo on Legendary..

i've beaten halo three times on legendary mode. the key to success is to use your brain a lot. you have to change your bad habits from the other two modes. you have to know every enemy's strengths and weaknesses. you have to know how to use certain weapons in certain situations. and you have to know how use grenades really well. once you start thinking like a soldier in a war, it's not as daunting as it intially seems.

I have, and let me tell you: DAMN is it hard. I mean, DAMN. It's very hard just getting past each level, nevermind the end levels.

It's like you're playing against really good, smart humans. Tough game.

Granted, the AI is much tougher on Legendary, but it's still systematic. And once you become familiar with patterns (well, most of the time), it becomes more possible to accomplish.

Really, there are just parts that are stupidly hard to get through by yourself on Legendary. You'll make it through a decent chunk of a level, then you'll get stuck on one area for three hours.

It's tough, but fun. Also, it's a good foundation for multiplayer. There's no comparison to playing people for practice, but if you have no one to play, Legendary is the best you're going to do.

I have at some point or another, either on my system or on somebody else's beaten all levels of Halo on Legendary mode at least once. Some more than others.

The Maw however? I can't fucking stand doing that final warthog run ever again.

That's the kicker: The Maw.

I've beaten Halo single player straight through on Heroic a couple of times. I've gone through on Legendary straight up to The Maw, but it's just insanely hard. I gave up trying to do the last Warthog dash after the 8th time or so. If anyone's got any tips, I'd like to hear them. If I remember correctly, Silent Cartographer is also pretty hard on Legendary, or at least I have memories of the pain in the ass Hunters on it.

Honestly, the only REAL tip I can give you on beating that last section on Legendary is to be SURGICAL with the Warthog, and pay attention to taking the cleanest line (I know, suddenly Halo is a fucking off-road racing game) toward the end. This is most easily accomplished by going straight down the middle, which, if timed correctly, you can basically just slam up on the stick and brake to correct your trajectory as you come off the ramps and jumps. There is one room (I can't remember which) where this is impossible, and you're forced to go around the sides. Oh, and the most obvious tip is don't stop at the rendezvous point with Foehammer, since she dies whether or not you're there waiting for her.

I remember when my friend and I beat that last part. He died and I had one hit left. I rushed into that ship and dropped the controller.
