After seeing the pissing and moaning in the Tekken 5 thread (OMG, I know T5 is gonna suck after seeing about 10 screen shots) I though I'd start a Tekken appreciation thread. So, come in and appreciate Tekken in all its forms.

Tekken 2 was badass. I used to go over to my friend's place and play that with him all the time.

Then Tekken 3 came along, and it was pretty meh.
Then Tekken Tag came along... more meh.
Then Tekken 4, and I lost all respect.

So. Fucking. Slow.

Unfortunately this site seems to be Anti-Tekken. But I definitely can't wait to play Tekken 5. Asuka has Jun's moves so it will be Tekken 2 all over again for me. I wasn't hating on Tekken 5, I was laughing at Raven for being similar to Blade. At least they have a non-boxing/wrestling black guy. Raven is a ninja.

Someone gets all bent outta shape that you didn't like his game and you take the "(LOL!)" outta your thread title and say it's a great game. You're either like a swingset or a woman or both, I can't decide...

I didn't take it down because of Micheal Yagami. That LOL was there to laugh at Raven. But the pic was down. Read my entire post please before you jump to conclusions. Where did I say Tekken 5 was bad or I didn't like it in my post. I have been a Tekken fan since T2. :shame:

I'll admit that I did really enjoy Tekken 2. Part 3 had nice graphics, but seemed pretty derivative - and the tag thing just seemed lame to me.

I've only played like 1 or 2 versus matches in the arcade in Tekken 4 so I can't form much of an opinion, I but liked what I saw.

Anyway I like Tekken I removed LOL so I would not send the wrong message. But I do dislike Tekken 4 though. Shouldn't be anything to overraeact about. If you don't like Tekken, it's fine by me. I am definitely not a swingset or a woman. ;)

Tekken 3: got my full attention on 3D fighting games. Console version had cool features and all the arcade glitchs intact. :D

Tekken Tag: fun to play vs.

Tekken 4: boring few characters dominates the entire game. Way too unbalanced. :oh_no:

Hopefully Tekken 5 has more features than Tekken 4 had to offer. :spock:

Just drop it man. If you see all my previous posts about Tekken, you would see that I didn't say anything negative about it besides my disappointment with T4. No need to overreact. Would you be happy if I put it back so it looks as if I was making fun of Tekken 5?

I've loved Tekken since the first one. Knew it was shallow and a bit lame how the boss characters were just remakes of the first cast. Then Tekken 2 came out and it was a brand new ball game. Great motion capture and music. My god, the music.

3 wasn't bad, but TTT was great, IMHO. 4 is just fine, if you ask me. I don't *hate* the series at all, I just like VF more.

Tekken 2 is still one of the most important games in my gaming history to me.

Subscribe me to that list too. There was Tekken, ok things starting out pretty cool nice psx port. Tekken 2 was ace in bg, music and fun.

Then Tekken 3 tried to be better but wasn't, all downhill since 2.

Not that I think it's bad and won't give Tekken 5 a go, I just rekkon for some reason it peaked at Tekken 2.

Tekken is great. Sure, T4 wasn't exactly perfect, but the rest of the series has been great. I can't wait to play Tekken 5.

Tekken 4's slowness ruined it for me.
Tekken 2 was nearly perfect... although, after Tekken 3, my friend and I switched over to Soul Blade :P

Tekken 3, for me, was truly the creative peak of the series.
Incredible music, Law's fucking BAD-ASS yellow jumpsuit.
I loved the way they ditched many of the clone characters and brought them back as more developed characters with cool styles (Baek=Hwaorang,Bruce=Bryan, etc.)
Xiaoyu and the shitload of Lei stances were just icing on the cake.
Ogre and True Ogre were the best bosses of the series too.

T-Tag was a misstep for me, I didn't like the tag gameplay, and I hated the way all those clones came right back. Tekken 4 isn't even worth talking about.

Despite all this, I still overall love the series and have massive nostalgia, especially for T3 (when it was big in the arcades in 1997 when I was also with my first serious GF.)
Hopefully Tekken 5 will resurrect the series. Namco needs a comeback.

Funny, the Tekken 4 engine is a lot faster than Tekken 2 and 3.

Possibly the worst excuse for hating Tekken 4 thus far was "They got rid of Anna, my favourite character". But this comes pretty close too.

Tekken Tag is fucking fun, no two ways about it. Spinmaster X actually got me playing the series seriously when we'd have all night sessions of Tag and 4. The cool thing about Tekken is that it's so easy to get into. You can literally pick up the controller and mash away and it looks like you're doing something cool (you are). The coolest thing though is how deep the games actually are. People love to write off the games as being shallow because you can 1-1-1-4 and do a cool combo, but these same people would get eaten alive by any seasoned player wave-dashing all over their ass.

I love both Tekken and VF Evo (I don't like any other VFs, though). Insanely fun games. A lot of people will bash Tekken without a clue and likewise praise VF Evo without a clue, so you sort of get used to it and just make a mental note that they're retards, then mosey along.

Tekken Tag= best PS2 launch game. Still fun to pop in the PS2 and play a little. Tekken 4 was indeed slow as molasses, but it was okay.
Oh, and Nina Williams= teh hotness. I'm interested in how Death By Degrees turns out. :glee:
