God damn law system.

For any of you that have heard of the He trial, and for those of you who
haven't ( http://abc24.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=05023EB7-8E69-4D53-BAE3-9F15E7682964 ) - The verdict today was bullshit.

Basically, this asian family (the He's) had a baby but could not afford to keep
her just then...so they gave another family (the Bakers - a very weathly white family) temporary custody in order to make ends meet. They did this is 1999 btw.

So, 2000 comes and they come back for the little girl - and by then, the Bakers
had become attached so they basically said "Fuck you, we're keeping her." and
that's the last time they saw her.

The He's quickly filed a law suit, and it's been going back and forth now for a few
years - for as long as I've been in News anyway - and today the final verdict
was passed down.

The Judge called them uncaring and incapable - that they abandoned the child and that they only wanted her back so that they could stay in America.

Now, in the 2 1/2 years I've been in the News business - I've seen a lot of really
stupid shit...but sitting in that Live truck outside the He press conference,
watching the events unfold as our reporters jammered on...this fucking tops
the proverbial cake.

I come from a weathly white household...and if my parents did that, I'd tell
them to go to fucking hell. These people are no better than thieves.

Fuck the legal system.

Giving away and granting temporary custody are VERY VERY different things.

They gave her up for a little while so they COULD work more and get things stable so they could support a child.

The He's agreed upon "TEMPORARY" custody so that they could
get a stable living going...it only was supposed to last a year.

You try imagining not being able to speak english, moving here
to start a new life with a wife, having a baby and trying to make
ends meet. So they give up the baby temporarily to a family they
trust so they can get on their feet and provide a good enviroment
for the kid...no big deal.

Now imagine the people you just gave the kid to a year ago telling
you to fuck off when you come back to get her.

Now, the He's constantly visited the girl so it's not like she's been
left alone with the Bakers.

So, yeah - we feel for them and you're a dick.

Yeah, yeah, I'm a dick. whatever. Anyway, how could the judge take the kid away if they only had temporary custody? No way that could've happened if they had a legally binding document stating that. Did they have an informal agreement with these people or something.

anyway does anybody know about their past, since the article just talks about the verdict and I dont wanna bother read it all...I mean if they had baby in Asia then came to US..
if not, then I'd slighty agree with galfordo or at least with "what" He'd like to say....a lot of people doesn't realize a baby is a responsability not a fucking toy and should be made just in a more better (from an economic point of view) moment

After reading through the verdict, I'm not seeing where the custody granted by the He's was temporary. Can somebody help me out here?

You people really should read the actual verdict before jumping on the "evil white man" bandwagon. The facts don't paint a pretty picture for the He's - particularly the father (assault charges, etc.). Also, I still don't see where the He's have any legal grounds for this temperorary custody thing.

Yeah, both the He's seem kinda crazy. However, i though that court rulings almost always came down in favor of the biological parents unless they are total fucking nazi baby-rapers or something. I mean, it's not out of the realm of possibility that there could be some sort of racism at work here, perhaps even subconsciously, in assuming that the child would be better off with Mr. Drummond than some illegal aliens.

But see Galfordo, if you had said this right off the bat instead of "work harder or shit", maybe peeps wouldn't think you were such an ignorant asshole. You know: now the world don't move to the beat of just one drum; what might be right for you may not be right for some. Just a thought...

It's pretty frustrating when people don't even consider the fact that these people may not have been in the right - and I think it's clear that their motives were in the very least questionable. I think they're silly for making snap judgements, and they think I'm an ignorant asshole - neither of our opinions really matter, so I may as well speak my mind.

You know: now the world don't move to the beat of just one drum; what might be right for you may not be right for some. Just a thought...
