Can a consolised MVS board still be used in a cab?

I don't see why not although I'm a little scared to try it out. I need reassuring. Thanx.

It depends how it was modified, the ones I do can be used in a cab no problem....

What are the factors? I didn't do this one myself and I don't know who did. Is there a chance I could ruin it if I give it a try?

it should work fine.. technically all the consolizing does is re-route the connections from the jamma connector to a different connector.. just unplug the power supply before trying.

If you've got an RGB output on your consolized board, then you should be able to send that directly to the monitor. Depending on what kind of input your monitor uses, you may need an adapter, but if you've got an RGB output it should work just fine.

this is not about additional connectors. it's about the jamma edge.

not a problem at all, if the board wasn't modded by a monkey ...

You can't just hook the signal directly into the monitor? Or do arcade monitors take a jamma cable hookup or something?

The video signal comes straight off the Jamma edge connector on the board.

you can take the rgb signals off the rgb connector, but boards are usually hooked up via a jamma harness and not all consolized boards have rgb sockets.

besides the rgb signal, you'd also need to hook up a psu and the controls. at least ...

Even if the edge connector is solder-ridden and thus impossible to plug into a jamma connector, a consolized MVS can still be used in a cab with an adapter, provided it has an RGB output socket (and built-in joy ports). It's the same method that makes an AES jamma compatible.

I built some 2slots with only a +5 PSU... IN order to allow it to be used in a cab, I put a switch on the side to connect/disconnect the main +5v rail from the +5v pin on the 7805 voltage regulator. When placed in the cab, the switch has to be turned off so that there is no chance of shorting between the 7805's +5 voltage and the PSU's +5v.

If you remove the 7805 from the board the switch is not necessary...

That's a great idea....

So i'd remove the regulator and just run the +5 from the main rail to the place where the +5 output pin was on the regulator?

I was afraid that doing so would mess up some of the circuitry......

OK guys, what exactly is the worst that could happen if the board hasn't been fixed for dual use?
