Propeller Arena was an arcade dog-fighting game for the DC developed by AM2. It was supposed to be released in late 2001 but it was delayed, most likely due to the 9-11 tragedy (there's one stage that takes place in a town full of skyscrappers and you can crash into them). After that the DC was dying so they just canceled it definately.

It looks like there was a proto disc of this game floating around, that was sold for something like 1000$. This reminds me a lot of the MVS cart protos, like Ghostlop. After some similar drama, the iso of this game has been publically released so everybody can enjoy it.

I downloaded it and it's a great game. It reminds me a lot of Crazy Taxi, but with planes. It's similar to Crimson Skies as well.

So I suggest you to get it and post impressions here!

That's great news! I remember reading about that game and I was really bitter when I heard it was being canned. The screenshots in magazines were enticing, I really liked the look of the rickety old old war planes and characters.

How does it play, I thought it was mainly supposed to be for online multiplayer.

Any idea where I can get hold of a copy?

Yeah, I remember reading about this game as well. It was basically going to be online just like crimson skies but (as previously stated) they dropped the game because of the fact you could fly into skyscrapers and they knew some sicko online would be doing that because of 9/11

It's amazing how important timing is in video games...(not that this game would have saved the DC, but still cosidering how popular Crimson Skies is it would have probably helped some)

Man that's great news! :multi_co:

I was a big fan of the arcade "Dogfighting" simulator sit down version and remember being furious over the fact it was being shit canned because of 9-11. Between that and Air Force Delta Storm for the XBOX being pulled for more or less the same reasons I just shake my head. "Okay so you could ram you plane into buildings. Big fuckin' deal!" ---Just glad the game got released by someone who didn't buy the proto and then sit on it being LORD such and such. Cyberspace was never meant to be regulated, and it's the non space of everywhere and nowhere, where information like this {downloads etc.} should further "truck on" to be within the realm of FREE. That's what the whole revolution was about... but then you have the fuckin' Cyber Cops... and some suck wad corporations who cry anytime something is released without their say so, but they didn't have plans to release their arcade game from 1986.

...a VICTOLY indeed. *Now I need to go and download it myself.

I'd love to get a chance to play it. Is it possible to download Propeller Arena on to a cd and then boot it with a DC-X?

Excuse my ignorance, I don't now much about playing copied discs.

It should be self-boot. Just burn and play. That's how mine is.

No confusion!
No boring!
Looks like Sega took a page out of SNK's book.

Check out the four player split-screen dogfighting, though.

Thanks so much for the news! I was always hoping this game would be released someday! I just can't wait to play it!

Edit: I'm downloading it now and I will post comments about it later. I'm just too excited! :buttrock:

My god why wasn't this game released! So much potential! This game owns folks. Download it now. Should be in a CDI format, so it'll self boot.

And to think we could have been playing this ONLINE nearly 3 years ago. Sega's decision not to release this was a poor choice.

I can't wait to get some friends over for some 4 player action :buttrock:

I had a look for it on that site but it doesn't seem to be there, can someone recommend another source?

what format do i burn this under? i never done this before i did it thru iso with no luck:(

The file is in cdi format. You need to burn it with Disc Juggler or Alcohol 120%.

I got the the game running but there is no sound. Is this right?
