Obviously, everyone reading this is a nerd to some level or another, but how do we start stratifying the nerds among nerds? This isn't a bash on the "greater" nerds out there, especially since many will pride how high a class of nerd they are -while others will be relieved they are not of such a high class.
In an ode to one of the great Talmuds of nerddom, I say these divisions of nerds should be made into "Classes": i.e. "Class 1 Nerd" "Class 2 Nerd" etc.
Where do you divide? It would be difficult to say "oh, if you know ST:TNG or Star Wars you're only a Class 2" or "if you know Red Dwarf and think Magic is the best thing ever you're a Class 3." Nope, we need to make things a little more general to let in all the different "specialities" of nerds everywhere.
Therefore we must figure out how to separate nerd-like qualities and nerd-knowledge into their separate veins, and then try and construct how many items or categories of nerd knowledge and which qualities of nerd-like qualities are required to become a certain level of nerd. There will be a push-pull between the nerd-like qualities and the flat-out nerd-knowledge.
Any takers want to get us started? This could be ground-breaking work in the field of nerdology.
