i know american tvs suck because they use NTSC encoding, but don't all Tvs have to convert back to RGB (hence why the Y-C conversion wreaks)? If so, couldn't I take off the chassis and find the RGB wires that come out of whatever decoding chips are present, then tap them?
It is not beyond the realms of possibility but I would not recommend attempting it, unless you understand the issues.
Some non RGB models actually have the tracks in place but the relevant componentry missing for the RGB input option, perhaps for a different market, I see this quite often, they would be fairly easy to modify, it would require switching the RGBs from a scart input socket (or any other socket for that matter)
Other wise you could input the RGBs to the signal processing IC TDA8362(older)- 8842(newer) just to give a typical example, the signals would probably have to be buffered and the levels adjusted to suit. Then the sync waveform may have to be tailored to work. Its possible, difficulty depending on the chassis of the TV.
