Why bother with 2D gameplay in 3D? I love 3D fighters, but not when they stick to 2D ways... you can tell by the special moves being used.

I agree. The only 3D game with 2D game play that was really cool to play was Wild Ambition. I was pretty shocked to see that the low kicks didn't hit when the opponent raised his leg. It had some 3d dynamics involved, and the vs mode was fun as hell.

Head on over to http://www.pign.net for some new, sharper screens, including some victory poses, a new forest-type stage, and the in-game models of Seth and K'. Alternate costumes are now confirmed, featuring Terry's MOTW style outfit, and the older Ryo.

Hehehe, SSBM is VERY cool... I just don't use to compare it with 3D fighting games, in a Tekken/VF vein

Heh. I've been waiting for a Clark screenshot just to see the "Still" spelling of his last name beneath his lifegauge -- and the development team left the last "l" out. :oh_no:

Hopefully that'll get corrected before the final release (I prefer the "Still" spelling over "Steel" or "Steele" -- I feel it's a more correct English rendering of the katakana version ("sutiru"), and I've yet to see an official Japanese source that uses "Steel" or "Steele").

which to me is a vast improvement over his blah default sprite...the tough look reminds me of his scruffy "Mr. Karate" sprite from Fatal Fury Wild Ambition...

now if only the gameplay would aspire to be Virtua Fighter quality...but I still dunno 'bout that
