Before I dive into this thing, I was just wondering if anyone else out there has attempted it and succeeded.

I love my DC Arcade stick, but I would prefer the joystick to be a little bit tighter. Is this going to be a difficult project, or should it be pretty straight forward?

I was thinking of replacing it with an ultimate or a competition stick - or something along those lines.

--thanks in advance for any advice on this

I'm quite sure without even checking measures that an Ultimate or a Competition stick is too big (deep) to fit a DC stick.

Yeah, after digging around in the DC stick's guts for awhile, it looks like a little more trouble than it's worth. I'll probably just grab an stick from mas systems.

If you already have mas sticks, you can save yourself some cash by making controller conversion boxes like these for about $$7-$8 each and a worn out controller or two.

It's possible to swap out the stock DC stick with a variety of japanese sticks though, specially I'd suggest switching it with a sanwa optical.

Have you done this yet? I was a little worried when I looked at how specialized the housing the the joystick base looked.

In My Defence;

1) I used the search function.

2) This thread poses the same question I want to ask.

3) SHUT UP.

Sooo has anyone successfully upgraded their DC Joystick's Joystick? As mine has far to much play and I'm thinking of a Sanwa upgrade??

Replacing the joystick for a Japanese one, like Sanwa, makes more sense on the style of the whole stick, but it requires quite heavy modding, there was a tutorial out there. Using an Ultimate just doesn't look possible.

Thanks for the responses guys, the links look great.

I need to tidy up the wiring in my stick anyway, so I have to do some maintenance and may as well do the buttons too :)

I just put a Seimitsu LS-32 in my Agetec stick, and I noticed the Seimitsu joystick shafts sit a bit shorter compared to Sanwa sticks. I shaved down the top of my Seimitsu stick, so the joystick shaft can be a little higher. Probably doesn't make sense, but unfortunately I didn't take any pics.

If you like your spring a little stiff, go to a hardware store and buy a new spring. OSH carries them, but I am sure other major hardware stores do as well.
