Forget Half Life 2 and Doom 3.

This game looks as good if not better than most screens I've seen of those games.

And on top of that it's INSANELY GOOD to play. Enemies are smart and they will flank you, gang up, everything. Plus it has location based damage so even just 1 pistol shot to the face takes them right down. It's great.

Granted to have it look unbelieveable you need a relatively beefy system, but playing it with all details set to very high, it's a damn near incredible experience of a game.

Yeah, it´s the best Ego-Shooter since Half-Life for sure...

The AI is great, even the SFX and Graphics are more than good, in other Words brilliant! If you can´t wait any longer for DOOM 3- or HL2, just buy it! It´s really worth! Believe me! :buttrock:

What a coincidence.. I just won an auction on ebay for Far Cry no less than an hour ago. How is the multiplayer? Is there alot of replay value? How long is the game?

I got bored with the demo before I even finished it. Free-roaming zones are fantastic and all, but not when completion of the level still requires a linear path through it.

@Shirt-
Have you tried the Desert Combat mod for BF1942? I just played it this past weekend, and in my opinion it owns BFV because:
1.) It runs on the nearly bug-free BF1942 engine.
2.) All the current hardware is in there.
3.) Even the physics and dynamics of firepower have been updated.
4.) You don't have to deal with all the bugs present in BFV

I hated BFV because of all the bugs, audio and video throughout the game. Plus for just a minor upgrade in gfx, I still needed to reduce all graphic settings to minimum for it to play as smooth as BF1942 on maximum gfx.

Desert Combat can also be played as a normal campaign (existing one in BF1942).

I don't really play FPS games at all, but I've been playing the demo of Far Cry and I gotta say it's pretty nice.

Far Cry leaves other games far away graphics wise.

Definitely an awesome single-player game. The multiplayer feels a little weak though but maybe there will be mods. There's also a couple bits of weirdness (like the fact that the in-game character models look better than the FMV ones :spock: ) but definitely a fun (and hard) game.

What's cool is that in many areas there really is more than one way to get through. For example in one area you can take the glider down the mountain or drive/walk (or you could just jump and hope you survive).

I still think HL2 and Doom3 look a little better graphically but Far Cry still looks damn good.

I definitely need to get a new computer. My PIII 1GHz, GeForce 2 32MB just not cutting these days :p

Maybe I'll build a new one after I graduate next year. I've had this laptop since frosh year of college (2001).

Yeah I've played Desert Combat. Although I've only played against bots (horrible, no fun) I might like it even better than BFV if I ever get to try it online. I can't find any of the bugs in BFV people keep talking about. Anywho, patches are on the way very soon.
